Listen to "Da ****" from The Docter's Advocate. It sounds so clean.

Also listen to "I Made It" by Jay-Z. Another good one of his.

To me 9th's beats have that 90's type of boom bap Hip Hop feel. I felt the same as you when I first started hearing his sh*t. But like you said, he dropped some ill beats on that MURS revenge CD. He has also done a good job w/Little Bro. Jeanuis (w/Jean Grae) had some pretty tight production as well. And what I give him the most credit for is his humility. When you read his interviews he's not bragging bout' all the stuff he's done. That's a rare quality these days.

I agree that the sound quality is a bit off, but that's I like about him. What I really dig about him is the way he flips those samples.

Opinion I guesse, but Em's no where near 9th, again, you must be white. I don't hear any type of Detroit sound in his music, I think he's amatuer. I don't think people knock him because he's such a great MC who's beats don't compare to his rhymes, I think they knock him because his beats aren't up to par.

It's like some one saying that Busta Rhymes is a good actor....no he's not, the only reason why he's on screen is because he's a great rapper. Same w/Em. His beats wouldn't recieve light of day or night if he wasn't already famous.

He's underated because he deserves to be.

Yeah 9th has that boom bap sound but it's kind of watered down and just not very unique to me. Check out production by M-Phazes. I think M-Phazes has 9th beat but is way less recognized.

What do you consider the detroit sound??? lol. Might be hard to determine that being in Miami. I'm talking about the early Detroit underground sound. If you listen to production done by Esham in the early to late 90's you'd understand what I'm saying. Esham is clowned on alot for his horrorcore style but his production in the 90's was crazy. Sample selection and how he flipped them is very similar to what Em does. No matter what Em tries to say his dark rap style and production style was definitely influenced by Esham. Mike E. Clark also helped pioneer that sound. Like I said Em is not a phenomenal producer but he's not bad at all. I can understand why I may dig his production a little more than the average listener. I grew up 20 minutes outside of the D. I was listening to Detroit undergound sh*t at 10 yrs old...lol

BTW - Yep I am white but once again wtf does that have to do with anything. You mentioned Ant from Atmosphere earlier. Should I assume you're white because of that? People need to stop making Assumptions on here.

i like sam addams....i dont think too many people know about him or devo springsteen...devo produced diamonds are forever by kanye...

I just saw rjd2 in concert again recently in cleveland. One of the most down to earth cool guys. IF you like making music and mixing its a show you shouldnt miss. The guy is all over the place, on the 2000xl 1 moment on his 3 tables the next then hes on the keys and the guitar.

Yeah it was cool to see him playing guitar and singing. I was suprised when I met him. He's just a little dude...lol Real quiet and was super nice.

I'm not trying to insult you by saying that your white...I don't give a fck about that, but what a coincidence I was right.... I was saying that because Eminem in my opinion isn't a top rated producer.....but I know that white people love him because it's like "yeah look what he can do". In other words he provides hope for up and comming white folks.

In my other post I stated that Hip Hop is beautiful because everyone's excepted. I used to really like Eminem as an MC, I just don't think he's a great producer. And I'm sure that any black person knows this. It's like this, I live in Miami, all my Hispanic friends feel that "Pitbull" is a tight rapper. Do you think so? Probably not, but because he's Hispanic they support him. Like Big Pun's people on video having the nerve to say Pun was tighter that Biggie.............

The Detroit sound I'm talking about is Awesome Dre. That's what I remember of Detroit. Maybe I'm outdated though..... you mentioned assumptions, yeah I like in Miami but I still love Hip Hop.

Yes, I mentioned Ant(I didn't even know he was white) because he is a dope *ss producer and you gotta that he's more talented than Em....Peace

Well like I said before Em isn't great but he's not bad. I've definitely heard worse from people who seem to get more praise. Him being white doesn't effect my opinion of his production skills...lol There have been successful white hip hop producers for quite some time now. He's not a provider of hope for white hip hop producers...lol I'm not trying to be a dick. I'm just being honest.

This is Ant.

Doesn't look like what you expect him too huh? lol. I was suprised when I first saw him. Dude sports a pony tail...lol Oh and yes I do think Ant is more talented than Em.

craig b, and KLC of the medicinemen (formerly beats by the pound)

J-Swift

Produced Pharcyde's Bizarre Ride. If only we could have been blessed with more. Career sidetracked by crack addiction, which is the subject of an upcoming documentary, 1 More Hit. One of the most musically potent producers ever, mixing live instruments and samples. Gifted.

Doom, alot of people recognize his skills on the mic, but the dude is potent on the boards as well.

Yeah, I'm just being honest too.
Not to drag this white/black thing into the ground, all I'm sayin' is that only a white person would be on here talkin' bout Em put 50 out.....Em is in fact a provider of hope for whites out there because he's so mainstream, the other white producers don't come anywhere near him in popularity.

Oh.....thanks for that vid. I really respect and admire Ant. To be honest, I wasn't that surprised by his appearance because some of his beats have a "rockish" feel to them, very musical as opposed to grimy and raw like a lot of underground/underated producers. So the look just fit. I just recently heard of Bro Ali. I'm tryin' to get into his album, but I'm not that impressed........

His sh*t is tight, but me being a beat maker, I find his sh*t kinda simple. I give him props on some of his choice of samples....

Too flippin right. J-swift had such potential, bizarre ride still rated up there with the best of them an that was his debut... Eff me, I wish he had kept up production instead of unfortunately getting stung by addiction.

BTW learnmedia (or anyone), do you know any more about that documentary. I heard about it ages ago an have heard nothing since...

I also read about him suing some guy that had a number one hit by directly sampling Passin Me By without clearing any of it. Never heard any more...

I dunno if someone already mentioned about DJ Quik or not but in my opinion he is a VERY underrated Producer/Rapper/Engineer/Composer he basically set the tone on how westcoast music sounds today. Multi Talented producers who compose, arrange, rap, and engineer their own music are very rare now and days

but anyways thats my 2 cents
