This is always very good information and people, do not solely rely on only placements. Do your best to expand in the production field.

Good info...I think there are still some pieces missing because you can eat off a couple of placements. You just have to keep working hard and keep networking....Plus alot of producers up and coming get a chance to get advances for records they place even if the track doesn't make the album. At least thats what I've been told. But, all in all this is a business and you have to treat your brand like one

i need some advice about how im going about with the game what im doing rong if im even doing any thing rong. its 2005 an im 15 years of age in miami florida and i start off with Fl studio and a lot of free producer packs and a few vst. at that time im in high school so i start making beats in my free time. so my 1st ever networking was in school with people who rap and sing, i even showed my music to my music teacher and he said i am better then some people 10 years doing music. so be for i finish school and grad i end up getting beats in school plays and stuff. so in 2008 i grad high school still doing beats and working but i end up quitting my job to do music full time and my family supporting me. so with in the years i network with artist, work on major label music video sets get major artist direct number etc etc. so i contact the artist, i go 2 events with demos and even try to make hits with fire local artist nothing seemed to catch on. in time i work my way up with my beat making equipment and now today i have the new digital mpc 1,000, korg triton extreme 88 key, fantom g6 88 key, fl studio 9 xxl, imac, over $10,000 in vst plugins and all and now i have over 3,000 beats south, east cost, west cost, commercial(club pop, r&b electro, house,) rock(i play guitar), and im even making dubstep beats now. im also blending in styles in to each other. so im here and people tell me im the best indie producer better then some major cats 10 plus years so im assuming that im doin it good on the beat making tip. im also going to sae in september for audio engineering. so with in years i became good close friends with this guy who is responsible for sean Kingston & Jason Derulo(booth from florida same county) getting a deal wih jr rotem and i asked him to manage me as a producer he said yes but seemed like he was playing. so i just keep making beats growing every day with more beats. i really don't understand why people with soulja boy crap beats make it but then me who has over 3,000 beats that i put my time and soul in to it and have all my beats sounding industry ready & i care about the beats more then i do the money or the fame and is networking day and night going some times hole weeks not sleeping just to network in town and flying out of state to network is not making it? feel free 2 ask me questions.

1) its to late for a new name i have it tatted on my arm, but the name is real life to me im a big dude and my name starts with a J so it fits & people like it. second a lot of people told me that none of my beats sound the same at all thats 1 reasion it makes me a fire producer sounding like i have done it better then people 10 years. so im lost on what to do, any ideas other then this? also if there is any serious people on this site who have experience & resume with artist and producers for management hit me up i would like to sign a contract with money ull be making like a % etc etc and for you to start managing me asap if you like my stuff.

Scenario 2:

Polow catches a flat tire outside your house. You ask for him to come to your basement to listen to some tracks and he's with it. He likes your stuff and pays you 500K on the spot.

That's how it happened for me anyway.
hahahaha

it could happen in that quick... patients is everything
good post

just saying it's alot easier a a bit faster to get your music placed in television/movies.. even business jingles for marketing firms..

You don't necessarally have to go the music industry route.. You can go the entertainment route period..

Money is just about the same and no ridiculous contracts.. And most of all you own yourself and keep your freedom and all publishing..

You sign, a contract you giving atleast half your work away sometimes even more..
