zoom mrs 1266 CD

All my recordings play back identical to the source. I still need to try the master effects but my cd's come out crystal clear and loud. There is a section in the manual to import single tracks.
It is easy but the manual would be the place to look. If I explained it, I might tell you something wrong.
 
Okay, let's see... I brought my manual to work with me so I could help you. Insert the disc that has music you want to copy. Press the Audio key and you will see the CD menu. Use the left/right
arrows to make the display say Audio CD Player and press enter. Use the fast forward (FF) and RW keys to select the track you want. Press the REC key. Turn the dial (jog wheel) to select the track you want the music to record on and press enter twice.
press exit several times when done to return to the main screen
and your done. Please let me know if your successful.:cool:
 
It's a hot machine but be prepared to spend a lot of time with the manual. Not just reading but doing at the same time so you get a feel. The first thing that baffled me was the colored lights.
Green is for Play and red is for record. How are you doing with it? You should have it by now.
 
Zoom MRS 1266

Hi everyone
Only had this thing a few days - only just scratching the surface of what this thing can do - but I am not impressed with the quality of recording.
Plugged my Guitar into the front tried the back also but the recorded sound is all distorted!!!
Am I missing something?
Are the rest of you getting good quality sounds recorded?

Hi, Check you recording levels, the knobs along the top left they should light the red light. you have one for each input but also a master knob at the end. see if that helps.

If you are distorting as you describe im betting your recording volume is set to high-if it is you should see the red lights clipping off and on-best of luck, mike.
 
Sound is getting better!!!!

Thanks for the tips - checked the recording level it was way up high - thought it was only for setting the 6 track recording because of where it was placed easy to overlook things there are that many options!
Had to do a lot of work on my guitar - it really shows up the noise especially if you are using effects.
I put a couple of capacitors in strategic places and changed the pots the noise has mostly gone but still getting some hum - single coil pickup is causing it I think.
Any advice on a decent mic that works well with the Zoom - it will be mainly for acoustic guitars steel and nylon strung and some electric guitar but I'd say £100 is my absolute max.

Zoom mrs 1266cd

Greetings from Aus. Had this macine for two weeks. Do have some noticable hum with my Acoustic and Electric guitars. The machine does record this is this normal. Secondly Record Rytham track A stereo Guitar track and tried to play these back wile rcording a third track and got some latencey and delay in the notes I was playig to what i was Hearing through my roland ds 30 monitors. I Know latecey issues are with computer based things but thats too do with the sound card I throught The digital dormain would be different or have I got a faulty machine Regards Andrew

you effects sorce, it should be up on the input or in bypass mode... let me know if that helps

Thanks will check that kyle. As I new to this recoding have ya any sugestions to where do i put evrey thing in the mix ....... Paning effects ...... or is it just trial by error...... Dont want it to sound crap.... I know the vocals should be in the centre of the mix . Regards Andrew

Hi there guys!

Oh, how I've been looking for you... :)

I just bought a MRS-1266 and I am very happy with it. I have some questions though...

1. How do I program the drummachine in an easy way? I feel that it is really tricky to get it right. Sometimes I feel that I want to record an entire song just with "clicks" and then edit the rythm later.
I feel that there is a LOT of clicking on the arrowkeys to get to the right place in a song, and sometimes when I put in a fill or something, the following patterns do not sync any more.
I have also noticed that I don't need to use the insertbutton to change rythm...
Please give me some input about how you guys program your drum machine...!!!

2. Is the bult in de-esser any good, and how much (1-10) do I need?

3. Can I set EOS (end of song) manually?

4. Many of the built in guitar effects give a very "heavy" distortion, is this right? Is the Pre Amp ok, or should I by an external, or just mic an amplifier?

5. Is there any way to record a guitarr and drums at the same time... just to know where in the song you are, when you finalize the trum track?

Hello--Good to find this place. I've had a Tascam 488 for a few years now & am getting ready to order a MRS 1266.
Question--I bought a mid-priced CD recorder a year ago---will it be okay for mastering from the 1266 or would I be better off with the 1266 CD/R? Looking to save some money.

FAST equations

Does anybody out there have FAST equations they can share with the rest of us that are just getting to know the MRS1266?
I think there are a lot of people on this forum that would greatly appeciate a list of equations to program into our studios so we can have some fun recording and not feel so overwhelmed trying to learn everything at once.:cheers:
 
Christian, in answer to your questions....
1)We usually record the basics (drums, bass and guitar) with a stock rhythm pattern from the ones available then create the real pattern after. This allows you to get the song down with a basic timekeeping riff and worry about fills and stuff later. This is a problem if you want to stick some Cosy Powell solos in the middle but hey....it's a drum machine! The way to achieve this quickly is to record the parts in pattern mode rather than song mode - you then have a blank canvas to work with to get the rhythm patterns you want in the song, This has been a great feature of the 1266 for us.
2) Not sure about this one, haven't had to use this effect and am getting great results without knowing about it!
3)Yes, EOS can be set manually after the recording process.
4)The Zoom guitar effects are OK but a tend to be a bit thin and weedy. We use a V-Amp 2 amp simulator and it is fantastic for guitar - sounds as close to a Marshall half stack as you can get without the real thing. Onboard effects for bass guitar on the Zoom are fine though

Is the V amp you refer to made by Behringer? I don't have a drummer to help out after writing a song so I am trying to get it down from the get go. I'm employed full time and a family man.
I just want to do my best musically in my spare time and hope to achieve something and maybe make a contribution to the craft someday.
 
Hi Guy, yes the V-Amp 2 is a Berhinger product - it's a serious contender to the Line 6 Pod 2 and less than half the price! I am the same as you in that I am employed full time and have 3 kids, but as soon as they're off to bed in the evening it's out with the Zoom, the guitars and the V-Amp for some rock n' roll! I can do it all with headphones so no worries about disturbing the wife or kids, but once a week I get together with my bass playing compadre and we rehearse live (using the drums from the Zoom through a small PA rig).

I just bought a Zoom PS-04 to use in my garage and a small Behringer mixer too. I bought an Alesis drum machine so I can control the fills and changes by a footswitch. I also jam with a bass but my buddy doesn't focus. I can record and then bring out the big guns later to master and burn.
