had the 1266 for 3 months. just recorded an album for commercial release in sept ,entireley on zoom. no loops or drum tracks, just old fashioned recording techniques. ive fitted a phillips 48x cd burner, works fine. 39 pounds from pc world!!!!

This is an awesome machine but it takes time to learn. As someone else mentioned beer does not help. Once you get the hang of it then chill with a beer if you want to take a chance shorting it out. I just discovered how to apply insert effects and panning. I haven't edited yet but I can punch in and out with a button I made for my old Tascam. It's basically a door bell type switch with a phone jack. I am confused about some recordings
I did have changed the original rythem. I must have been playing
in a danger zone!

Burners

Excellent news about the generic burner - Zoom want about £200 for what is basically a Liteon 48x (£49, PC World) - who are they kidding? What's the model of the Philips one you fitted terry?
My unit is now back from Zoom with a brand new hard disk fitted, new OS version, seems to be fine.

Keep on keeping on!

On the upper left press the insert effect then on the right upper press the one you want the use the arrow left/ right to assign the channel you want it to affect. Then use the dail to change the intensity. press exit and your done. Panning works the same way. You have to read the screen while doing it..

What's cool about the insert effect is it works even after you have recorded the track already.

 I am interested in taking some old tape recordings done on my Tascam 4track and sending the individual outputs into the MRS and then have a drummer play along and record a track and send the working copy back to me. Is anyone interested it this kind of thing? We can all use our equipment
and talents across the globe without leaving the house. Well right now I would still have to go to the post office. I would love to lay some lead guitar tracks for someone too.

cool idea.

but I'm not a drummer, mostly bassist. Is there anyone else out there interested in this?
Cheers,
Kyle

Bass is welcome too. I play a little bass for recording accompanyment but it's not what I do best.

need help on basic recording

hello guys can anyone help on recording on the zoom basic tracks from scratch also how to burn just vocal tracks
im porting keyboards etc.

Recording a track

It's so easy. Plug mic in and make sure all corrosponding channels are lit red. Adjust mic input so the surge light in the input mixer barely lights up when singing your loudest. Keep the fader on the mixer at zero and the push the REC button on the bottom right. When finished, press stop. Then to play back press zero and change the fader light to green by pressing it. You can either press play to hear it or light up the master red to master it and press Record again. Then you will be ready to burn once you have a master. I forgot to mention. You need to create a new project by pressing the project key by the screen.
Then, use the enter button and arrows to change to new and enter. Then you can always go back to that project. When you burn just select your project and press the burn cd button in the upper right corner. keep pressing enter until it says it burning. Then select finalize to finish it.

Does anyone know how to use A Midi controller keyboard with it?
I bought an Oxygen 8 keyboard to use with my Roland MC-303
and had no luck .:monkey:

Hi Fritz and Kyle, I've been messing around with an inexpensive groove box by Roland called an MC-303 I found real cheap on ebay. It has a lot of cool sounds. It's a sequencer, synthesizer, rhythm / drum machine with really cheap key pads for input..
I bought an Oxygen 8 midi controller keyboard for around $100.00 and it works great! It also controls the drums and bass
on the MRS 1266cd. I have a couple questions. There is an instrument list in the back of the Zoom manual. How do we access these? Also Do you have any tips on mastering effects?
I have only applied effects to the recording channels. I learned how to edit recently. I still haven't phrase looped. Is your band putting anything out on the regular market that can be bought on Amazon or something ?

http://dillpitt.hopto.org
hope u like it
but we need help just getting into doing our own recordings now
producong etc ourselves.

There is a phantom power input in back on the far right. Some mics require the voltage. I don't know what kind you have. Also
Red is for recording and green is for playback. The manual doesn't tell you that.

B1 mic

Rootsy the B1 mic needs the phantom power switch to be on.
Are You trying to record the band live?
Cheers,
Kyle
