and you told you that 90% of the records were made with real daw, and by the way whats a real daw because 90% of record that are on the radio were made in either fl or reason. what are you talking about. if you don't like the upgrade then don't purchase. i for one am using reason 5 and record 1.5 right now. so i can speak on all of it features because for 1 they havent even told you all the features yet they only broadcasted 5 new features. name one daw out the box that has a better mixer than record.

ALL the DAWs have better mixers than Record. Why? because they have vst functionality (Waves plugins, Soft Tube, Sound Toys, Lexicon etc) and a much larger screen real estate to work with. A simple SSL emulation isnt gonna cut it . And NO, 90%
of all records on radio werent made on Fl or Reason.. More like Pro tools Logic Cubase or Live. And NO I wont buy the upgrade. Im just letting people know what's out there and not buying in to the hype. Whether or not i've tried it is irrelevant, I know what essential functions they are offering. A real daw gives you what you need to make a complete production without having to buy a separate app just to record.

i dont think their target audience is rewire users though. They are really targeting the hardcore Reason users who want this update. This update is more about giving people who use Reason standalone or want to something to rejoice about. If you want more sounds why even bother with Reason if you have Live just grab a vst

Record 1.5 does not work w Reason 4 and Reason 5 will not work with Record 1.0

I think they are targeting Home Recording studios period.

LOL Diabolic lol hahaha I didn't understand Sidi either, but oh well.

I want to know since I have Record 1.0.1 and Reason 4, how much do I have to pay being I don't fit in the new quoted bought in this time line thingy? I want Reason 5 and Record 1.5.

Yeah! Like the VSTs that you are using are not separate app that you need to buy(unless it's free or cracked). Also, Reason is not designed to be a DAW in the first place. So of course it's not a "real" DAW. Also about Waves and other SSL or Neve plugins, aren't those emulations also??? I guess, if it's not for you, why bother?

ok you just made yourself sound real silly out the box pro tools, cubase or logic, reaper, there mixer by itself is not better than record's mixer out of the box i'm sorry there not. think about you have to constantly go outside the box to get third party plugins which by the way are cpu hogs as well. how people do you know that went out purchased waves diamond bundle or mercury bundle (we all know that s the most crack plugin on the market for pc users) now if your constantly looking for the next plugin your constantly spending money since most studio are in home nowadays i dont think anyone wants to get spending money on plugins. #2. who said reason was a daw. i would love to know please tell me that. #3. how come record came out less than a year ago and its the most talked about daw on the web right now. for simplicity and stability. name one daw out the that you can load up 16 different high quality vsts 35 audio tracks and 3rd plugins on each track that runs stable with no hiccups thats not on a hd system. dogg its obvisious that you never used record let alone know the true power of record or reason. but use what you use homie. i'm making money and making my connections, shout out to me for having records coming out very soon with jim jones, red cafe, uncle murda and joel ortiz which tracks all made in reason/record. mixed and every. you dudes on fp love to talk technical about vsts and capabilities but yet in the industry nobody cares. its about the music if sounds good or not.

Record for Reason Owners (includes Reason 5 upgrade): EUR €149 / USD $169
Reason 5 Upgrade from any version of Reason or Record Reason Duo: EUR € 99 / USD $129
Record 1.5 Upgrade from any version: free download
Record Reason Duo: EUR €405 / USD $449
Reason 5: EUR €305 / USD $349
Record 1.5: EUR €279 / USD $299

well.. I prefer vsts over refills..
just the visual aspect of it is more appealing to me..

I have access to over 100gigs of refills... but I would still take vsts over it anyday

battery 3 is an amazing pluggin, yeah mr gibbs may have the whole battery 3 library as a refill.. but do you have the actual battery 3 sampler?

that thing is amazing

believe i own battery vst but its not that amazing its known to crash frequently the sampler on is ok, the compressor it sucks. the eq is kind of week, the flam is good, the rolls are cool but overall it not as great as i thought it would be. i bought because i thought it would it would increase my workflow when working outside of reason but it doesnt im really ready to sell it. i have all the sounds out of as a refill now so i have no use for it.

Yo, I get 600GB VelociRaptor 10,000 Hard Drive tomorrow bro, I am happy :) Dell put me through to much non sense for the 450 GB, tried to make me wait another two weeks, I was like cancel that order. I should of just got this instead I would of been rocking Hollywood strings already. So I will transfer files over to the other hard drive tomorrow. I will load all my EastWest stuff ass soon as that's done. It's about to be on and poppin in a minute!

If Reason came out w/ VST support as the last update.... I think the internet would shutdown like it did when Michael Jackson passed.

what up CPhoenix?

Well there won't be a shut down, because they are not doing that, if anything add midi out. I don't want bugs and updates dealing with Vsts, if I want that I will just use that in my favorite DAW host. I want Record/Reason to stay the way it is. AND THAT'S A MEAN MUSIC MAKING MACHINE!

I don't know, I might give Reason 5 a try
I mean, after I learn how to play the keys real good, I would probably make any thing sound good

Yes your track or music will be hot but to make it sound great comes to great engineering and mastering. Like my young apprentice he is nasty on the keys, he will bust my arse all day and all night lol But what I have over him is my drum programming, mixing and understanding how to make a radio ready track. He doesn't know how to make a record from beginning to end, but when he does, IT'S A WRAP!

BETA TESTERS:

One last question: In Reason 5, can I open a combinator inside of another combinator?

Thank you.

Hey mrgibbs, you like to talk about how vst's are cpu hogs. Well to be perfectly honest the reason that I went and updated my computer that last time wasn't because of problems with a vst. It was actually because a certain Reason file brought my computer to it's knees. This was when Reason 4 first came out, and here is the Reason file.

http://uploading.com/files/3mc87221/Trailersong.rps/

I don't have a problem at all running this on my quad, but my old computer had all kinds of glitches, drop outs, and basically did not want any part of this Reason song.

If you open it, I think you may recognize it:):):):)
Yeah I remember when I played that song on my very first computer ,which was a amd athlon 64 3200+ and it had it in submission.lol since then I updated to some hardware that eats the song for breakfast even tho most of my resources go unused being that Reason cannot fully take advantage of a quad plus Reason is not 64 bit ,but with Reason 5 I feel a bit underwhelmed about it because the update was minimal to me ,because I now use vsts with reason rewired and the features added been in fl studio for years.smh

no what purpose would that make.

Damn it.

It would just help my workflow... I have my Reason template set up for Rewire with 10 combinators all hooked to the hardware interface ins. Each combinator has a mixer in it, so that way I can just create/stack instruments easily without having to worry about the hookups and what not.

But because of this I can't easily stack combinator patches like i'd like to.
