I believe Kanye West, Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Drake, Snoop, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Eminem, Usher will be relavant in 10 years.

I learned this the hard way..thers no right way to mix your trax..with time you are able to polish your skills and you ear..but the best way to enhance you mixes is to create a HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT..because if you mix ur beats or songs in a bad environment you will be hearing false frequencies..once you have a better understanding of you mixing environment you will be able to push your mix to the limit and achieve that professional sound!

I'd like to remove Usher and Chris Brown from that list, and add Lupe Fiasco

Kanye West:

I see Kanye still in the game at least from a production/engineer side with No I.D. If any thing he'll still be in the game off features from his G.O.O.D. music artists. Besides unlike many artists, Kanye always comes back with a new addictive sounds. Every album he put out has gone at least platinum in the US so he'll definitely be around.

Lil Wayne:

Wanye is going to be around because he's Wayne. He flooded the industry gradually over the past years by doing features with other prominent artists and releases mixtapes keeping his voice in the minds of listeners. Nowadays it doesn't matter how well he raps, it just he put so much music out there he has become a household name so you expect to have him in the industry. He has pulled the ultimate marketing strategy of himself just by convincing you to like him. Simply put "Imagine The Game Without Wayne". You don't have to like him (he knows this) but your going to hear him.

Snoop Dogg:

Snoop Dogg did and does the same thing. He knows how to market himself to the public because he has been in the game so long (20+ years). He developed that brand hooked up with the right people and continues to align himself with hot young talent. Prime example Wiz Khalifa. Snoop timed his alliance with Wiz down to the brim and rode the success of Wiz like it was nothing. Now Wiz is hot on the mainstream and Snoop got a little piece of that exposure for himself.

Drake:

Drake will do well in the industry if not, he is a great lyricists and believe or not as good as "Thank Me Later" was Drake says it wasn't his best work. He was rushed in the process and had too meet deadlines. Now that he has the budget and time he wants I'm sure his next album will be just as good.

Other artists:

All of the other artists who should be prominent are proteges if the people mentioned above basically cementing these industry greats in the game for a long time. You also have artists like Rick Ross and Young Jeezy(if you didn't know) who are slept on sometimes I stress sometimes. But note all of the albums Ross and Jeezy released all went platinum in the US at least.

Note: All of these statements are just my personal opinion, don't rip your hair out if you think differently. It's just one forum post.

katy perry has a better chance than gaga? lol... that's crazy. Gaga is the BIGGEST pop artist right now she's not going anywhere.

....and Bieber, you seen artist like Aaron Carter or Jessie McCartney come and go but what about Justin Timberlake?

Bieber won't go anywhere either, specially him being groomed by Usher. In order for Bieber to successfully have a long career they need to transition him the same way they transition timberlake. If top of the line producers back him the same way Timbaland and Danja did for JT he'll be around for a while.

it all comes down to hit records, if the artist have em and they are pushed right, they'll stick around.

comparing beiber to timberlake, are you serious? its like night and day. justin timberlake going solo was possibly one of the smartest career moves we have seen in pop music.... ever. when he went solo is when we finally saw his talent and thats WHY he was backed by timberlake and accepted by the listeners, the industry and even eminem. justin bieber has no talent or staying power like jt. jt left the boy band to go solo, beiber is a solo boyband which i doubt he'll ever be able to break away from. if i were to compare beiber to anybody it definitely wouldnt be timberlake. or even aaron carter, bieber is way bigger then aaron carter was. if anything i would compare bieber to criss cross. and if they were both from the same era i would give criss cross an edge over bieber in terms of staying power because their style was way more mature then biebers is and they still couldn break away from their kiddie fame but where are they now? if anything beiber will become an actor when he fades away in the music industry. which i think hes already starting to prepare himself for. not too long ago he was on csi and as much as i would hate to admit it he was acually pretty good at acting.

and as far as producers go i must have either accidentally skipped a whole page mentioning just blaze, or this thread has just completely lost any validity. eminem i can almost guarantee will still be in the industry. most likely producing but even when hes 50 years old you will still occasionally hear him on a track from someone hes producing, lol. and even dr. dre will occasionally promote and produce a rapper here and there

I say wayne for sure, hes been making music on a mainstream scale since 97...lol. Dude got 14 years in and is more popular now then when he started. Hes probably going to end up like snoop dogg eventually where you just listen to him because hes snoop.

I dont think Kanye will still be making music 10 years from now, or eminem.

I totally agree with you.

Same people who were making them 10 years before... Max Martin, Scott Storch, Timbo, Stargate...

My God, none of these people you guys mentioned has any real talent, far less, creative ability. Don't be fooled: these "artists" don't survive off of skills or album sales, they survive mostly off endorsements and tours, which are really used to promote whatever back door republican capitalist corporation they work for. The customer thinks these charlatans are selling albums because they see them in commercials in front of montages packed with hundreds of screaming "fans" in a constant loop all day long. These prostitutes have to sell millions of albums to become rich. I'd rather sell thousands, keep nearly 100% of the take, and have a dedicated fan base making real music.
My place in the hip hop legends hall of fame- (Pete Rock, Large Pro, etc.)awaits me.

P.S. Whiz Kalifa actually said "You don't need to know no big words to rap" - Stunning and Scary.
This is the type of society we've been dumbed down to.

I don't say these with malice, there is really ALOT going on out there contributing to the detriment of our society and we lay down and let it slide...

Peace.

I don't think there is any one answer to anything that has been said here about ANY artist. Katy Perry being generic I have to disagree with. She has a real voice and if anyone heard her sing on her unplugged album you'd know that. Justin Bieber is a talent no matter what you think of his music and Lady Gaga if she keeps going the way she is she will be mentioned in the same vein as a Madonna.

i think lil wayne will not live anymore at that time :-( thats a live of a rockstar

Eminem has been making hit for over 10 years and he;s still young.. I bet he has another 10 years... hopefully :)
