just blaze used the "loungelizard" preset off the Roland Supreme dance SRX card for that NBA (live?) track.

the guitar on ashanti's song "only you" is a preset off the motif called "rockabilly" with some of the insert effects boosted.

Great Thread!

My All Time Favorite Beat:

Noreaga- "Superthug" (Produced by The Neptunes)- Korg 01/W Clav Preset.

Others-

Nelly- Get your eagle on (Neptunes)
Synth is the "Digital Polysix" preset from Triton.

Noreaga - Nothin (Neptunes) - "Bamboo Silver Flute" for the melody from Triton. Drums are also from Triton, Orchestra Kit.

Fabolous - Youngn' (neptunes) (hollaback yougn') guitar was another Triton preset called "Chorus E. Guitar."

Jay Z- N1gga Please (neptunes) drums were also from Triton orchestra kit.

The Neptunes pretty much owe their entire sound preset catalog to Korg, they beat the Triton to death.

Too Short- Shake That Monkey- (lil jon)- monkey skull bells from triton

You know what though, the neptunes are just good at what they do. It just so happen they made music with the triton. It could of easily been yamaha, roland or whatever. But yeah it kinda of hurts us with tritons. I hate when someone tells me that sounds like that sean paul guitar on gimmie the light.

people say the Korg Triton sounds cheap, lacks thickness, lacks authenticity.

people say the same thing about Neptunes songs. their guitars sound fake, their snares and kicks sound overdone, their pianos aren't great. But i love that about them, i love that it sounds fake, kinda plastic, its plastic in a good way......

i think that if the neptunes had used a yamaha motif it wouldn't have worked as well. you never hear a neptunes track and think "hey i can't tell if they actually played a real flute or if it was a flute synth." when you heard mystikal 'shake ya ass" that flute sounded fake as hell but it worked.

thats why i say the neptunes sound is really korg. korg gave them that sound. 90% of their stuff is korg and it wouldn't have been the same had they used roland or yamaha.

Ja Rule- New York New York. The heavy synth is the preset on Motif called Big Drone. There was one on the motif too that AJ003 used for his song called "Down here" I cant remeber name but its like the very first synth preset. This is a cool thread.

I may be wrong. But i think New York uses this bass synth called Sweeper. But i may be wrong.

theres a patch in the proteus 2000 that sounds like the new york preset as well, it may be it. Lots of the modules have similar sounds.

Memph Bleek - My Hood 2 Your Hood

Mo Phatt - What You Want Kit

Ludacris - Southern Hospitality - Triton "Dark Night" preset edited whereas you only here the car passing.

Yo the car effect is just it's own patch. I think it's just called "Car." It's in the SFX bank in non-combi mode. So in other words, they didn't even edit that **** yo, you were giving them too much credit.

Jay-Z "I just Wanna Love You" uses Strato Chime i'm pretty sure. One of the Triton "strat" patches at least.

David Banner used the "Jazz Organ" patch in "Rubber Band Man."

That sound Storch and Dr. Dre have been using on a lot of tracks(Disco Inferno, Lean Back) is called "Digital Polysix" also off the Triton.

"Hip Hop Drums" have been used in like 2 million tracks. To me the worst thing about all these peeps using Triton sounds is that the whole bank is so canned that I don't even wanna use it anymore. I barely touch my Triton anymore, it's been used as a controller for most of the last year. It's not because I don't wanna use presets either, it's because I have heard SO MANY of the presets used that it kinda drains the creativity out of it for me(I can't even bring myself to open up any of the basic drum banks). Don't even get me started on going to Guitar Center and seeing kids make the grindin' drum pattern(Which happens every time I go for some reason).

actually there is no "car" patch on the triton. the guy is right, they took the "dark night" patch on the triton, and to take out the backdrop sound and isolate the wooshing car noise they just panned it all the way to the right which leaves the car noise by itself. still pretty simple, but a great sound nontheless, worked great with that song.

you were on point with the rest of the stuff, except for the "i just wann love u", it wasn't the strato chime, but some other guitar patch on the triton. i agree about the triton being used and abused....

I'm seeing a distinct pattern to hip hop production...:)

Great thread btw...

Disco Inferno was a LLC track. (alltho 50 mentions dre in it)

Crime Mob producer Lil Jay also uses a lot of Korg Triton Extreme Presets.
(e.g. Crunk Inc, Knuck if you Buck, and most of all the songs he produced on their album uses the Korg Triton Extreme Presets.)

Please correct me if I'm wrong with any of the info I list.

Ying Yang Twinz-"Whisper" produced by Mr.Collipark uses I think the Motif Presets. I'm guessing on that one or he may have just loaded his MPC up and made that "basic" beat. Damn thats the most simpliest beat I ever heard that got so much attention. I guess cause its the Ying Yang Twinz on the track.
