New "Studio"

Just got this all set up today. Pretty excited to start using it all! There's some minor room treatment that hasn't been set up yet... Also not pictured is my 88 key Casio Keyboard. More pics in next post.

Nice... Yes, get that room treatment in there looks like a really small room, bass is gonna build up. I'd go with rigid fiberglass or mineral wool over foam because foam won't help tame the bass, which is gonna be your problem. Also monitors give you the most accurate image of the audio when they are symmetrical in the room equally away from the front and side walls, especially needs to be away from any corners that causes massive bass build up, bass is probably going to be exaggerated even further in the left speaker due to it's proximity to the corner...

Yeah, I'll only be in this room for 6 months or so then I'm moving. I can't get further away from that wall due to the door in the room. There's a large bed in there that should help some with bass. What I have is four 4 foot by 2 foot wood frames filled with insullation, covered in cork board, and wrapped in muslin cloth. Will prolly put one right behind the monitors, one by the corner there, and then I gotta figure out the other two.

Not ideal, but like I said, it's temporary, and honestly I'm not making radio hits anyways haha... but yeah nice to have a good room for sure.

I would say the most important places to place bass traps, which those are, if they are rigid fiberglass and atleast 4" thick (alot thicker if its the fluffy) is laying them across the wall to wall, floor to wall, and floor to ceiling corners. Also monitor first reflection points on the walls and ceiling, I'm not an expert so with that little amount of treatment and monitor placement I would say just put them in the closest corners to your mix position to atleast tame some bass, maybe get some blankets or duvets on the walls to tame the higher frequencies for a cheap solution that works rather well for vocal recording if they are thick enough.

I'll get some current ones soon.

these are about 3 moth old pictures..... have rearranged the room since thenIMAG0237.webpIMAG0242.webpIMAG0243.webp

I know how you feel. For the past months I've been crammed into a corner of a living room due to a flood. Just moved back in a few days ago. But really, the space only matters if you record a lot of live instruments or vocals.

God.. can U live with those Behringers? They were making noise and shit all day, and they sound cheap.. When I see ur other equipment, I think why the **** do you have so nice equipment? And cheap ass sound? sound is the most important thing in a studio :O

Damn that's cold.

Some guys make music with computer speakers. Some like old yamahas. Behringer Truths was the first monitors that i buyed. I can mix with them. I work as Dj so i can allways test my tracks at clubs. I know how they sound. No need to upgrade them.
