lol that SOOO ture when i started i just wanted to 2 TT and a mixer and now there are a few things i want soo bad.. it just never stops. what are some tips on recording a signature??

The EFX-500 should hook up fine without needing a new mixer: master out of mixer into input of EFX unit, then out of EFX unit into amp. Or if you just want to use it for one TT go out from TT into input of EFX unit, then out of EFX unit into serato (I think that should do the trick) channel for whichever table you want to have the effects on. Hope that makes sense!!

Thats the old skool way!! I think he want a effects loop. As in a 'return' and 'send' on the mixer so he can select which channel to apply the effects to. If your spending that much wedge on an effects unit you gotta do it right!

Yeah I realise there are other ways, but I thought I'd offer that solution just in case he wants to get an effects unit before spending moolah on a new mixer! I got the Vestax PMC 07 so as far as I'm, aware I have no alternative than doing it like I suggested - it works well enough for me!!

hehe ghetto! I had to use my headphones as a microphone once - ghetto fabolous!!!

about the signatures: man u can do alot! some popular ones include a gun shot sound then your Dj name straight after ya know...

track 1 playing - crossfade cut - sample: 'Bang! Deejay D!' - crossfade cut into - Track 2.

u hear it now and then like that on mix tapes...

I like to record random samples on my pads aswell: 'yeah', 'uhhuh!' etc.

then it you wanna get real crazy, record a sample of a track, maybe the chorus, then record 2 bars into the 4 pads u assign em to, (presuming 8 bars to the session) then as you go live with that song u can do some crazy tricks like those off beatjuggling cut effects you'll normally do with 2 of the same records on your decks... or you can even go a step futhur and create your own 'break it down' session e.g. when the record you're playing hits the chorus part - Brake your TT - hit a recorded sample of some dude saying 'Break it down now!' - go nuts and tap those pads - mix all the bars up - then when you're ready drop the chorus properly by starting your record up again.

Does this all make sense or do i need an instructional video? (no promises there tho hehe)

all i can say is, i thought i knew it all about Djing until the drum pads those me otherwise hehe
(thats why i love this art so much - u can do anything, u can even hypnotise girls to shake what they momma gave em... now that's a grand power right there haha)

i know what your talking about i just didnt know that they used pads. well let me ask you this what pads do you have and what pads should i get, what are some things i should look for in pads. i have never looked into pads if you cant tell lol.

the kit

my setup in pic; 2x tech 1210m5g tables + shure m44-7s carts to rane ttm56 mixer to 2x first gen event 20/20s actives monitors and grado sr80s headphones and yea 2x roadreadys 1200 cases on bottom if anyone cared/cares :)

main use; scratching at this point and dirty sampling, looking to get into beat juggling/battling after i get fairly decent on the scratching

i have a line from my mixer mains to my pc and use sound forge to record. i leave plenty of room so the sound doesn't distort and then use the eq after i'm done to adjust it higher if i need to. i've been using the program for years, so you have to find that happy medium between the mixer level and the levels on the program.

Alright, got some new equipment.. just a small upgrade.. ;)
