look man you dont hav to get all agressive... yeah i never heard of danja before commin to FP and THATS WHY im talkin about him.... im curious about how much of the producing actually does because most people out there think timbo is the sole producer of all those beats....

Well I mught agree with u here.. Danja is the one who brought fresh air to this amazing album!! Cos I heard almost every track by Tim but this is totally a fresh approach to same old music...

P.S. Somebody mentioned that if we think this music is revolutionary then we should listen to some other different music.. Can u mention some track names/artists? Lets get to know each other, shall we? Hehe

any 80's music
soul/gospel music
techno

wasn't that hard

well that 80s sound is gonna be out soon anyway, so get a heads up on tihs and start listening to the 90s again and then well start on the 00s when were done with that.

doesnt anyone else see the pattern, tihs started with samples from the 60s then cats were sampling the 70s, now cats are recreating 80s sound on synths, tomorrow the 90s and on saturday the 00s. on sunday we rest and monday ill drop the new style!!!! boom chica wah wah!!!!

peace

you can pull that effect off with the Poizone cst in FL 7 and it's pretty fresh ... my swing in FL just squashes Reason...

Okay I just read the entire thread and decided to join this forum. This is exactly the type of forum I've been looking for... where you ask a question about producing and get REAL answers.

Anyways...I'm not that much a fan of My Love anymore, so I'll start a thread on The Way I Are.

*You just can't hate on Timbaland. Krushing gives opinions that I personally respect - he's helped me out with equipment, and his views are always humble and NEVER biased. (Props where props are due...) - Is Timbaland trash? No. I don't care how many keyboards you own... how many VSTs you've bought - it takes that special 'something' to make your music sound right... and that's exactly what he does. Revolutionary... I'd say not at all. Kanye West, Just Blaze, Timbaland... nobody's really bringing something to the table that's never been heard before, SOUND-WISE. Kanye's newest album had some pretty original beats... but they were only original in terms of Kanye's previous albums. Were they were constructed well - yes... were the sounds something you've never heard before? No. Keep in mind that we're all to an extent using the same equipment... nobody's sitting on a 1 of 1 keyboard with 1,000 exclusive sounds that humans have never heard before... so you can't really discredit somebody's sounds in my opinion, (or knock the fact that they're using something familiar.) This is where I agree with Krushing - he's great at putting his music together, but at the end of the day - nothing he's doing deserves the title 'revolutionary.' I personally feel like he's killin' it hit-wise, but who cares lol. Hits are hits... they're usually made to be corny and catchy, and he definently accomplishes that. In a nutshell - Timbaland is nice, he's earned his rank... he's a great producer, but in my opinion - it's nothing to drop your jaw over. Buy yourself a Roland V-Synth - and watch how easy it is to make a tight synth beat melody for melody...

Thanks for ur views!

But gotta tell y'all somethin: Its messages like these that get me worried and dissatisfied.. Cos when I'm thinkin that I've made some nice tracks and will one day hit the charts, its messages like these that get me thinking that am just another brick in the wall!! That I'm making just another piece of music that'll be forgotten.. That am nothing special or nothing revolutionary.. Nothing like Hendrix maybe..

But then again.. will it really matter once I'm dead? Cos we all have to go one day.. This life's not gonna last forever.. Its such a weird feeling that a man just lives his life and gets all his happiness, sadness, satisfaction etc. from his circle of acquaintances.. From people who r alive the same time period as he is.. That its just a game of some sorts.. Its so weird..

Hope I didn't deviate too much from our discussion..

I just realized that most of the percussion in 'My Love' is beat-boxed! The Hi-Hat pattern with the Snare is all created by mouth!

Yes it's beatboxed but then again, I don't count it as true beatboxing because it's recorded in sections. First the hi-hat, then the snare, then some sound processing to make it sound natural.

i dissagree with the whole timbaland he has made tons of stuff for mainstrem listeners and his whole junkyard sound for his percussion no ne and i mean no one thought to use a baby in a track and he makes beats with everything he made a beat for 50 with a coke can and a pencil look it up on you tube if you dont believe me bt bottom line hes not make 500000 for a beat if its not reaching mainstream ears just my thoughts though

I wanted to be able to use this trance gate effect live without using a laptop.

Is it possible to do something similar to this "trance gate" effect on a regular synthesizer... such an Alesis Micron, XioSynth, or SH-201 (those are what I have)?

UR absolutely right CJ.. He's not gettin half a mil for nothin!

And his whole percussion and arranging ability is just so unique... To come to think of it, there r no technical skills involved.. Just the way he arranges the same old stuff in a very unique way.. Everything is just perfect! The construction of the track leaves the listener just on the edge and satisfied.. He NEVER overdoes anything!

Someone mentioned a Roland V Synth here?

Can anyone tell me somethin that a V Synth can do that a Reason 3.0 can't?

Do U guys know dat Timbaland samples everything?..lol
He even samples stuff from da old Nintendo Games!...LOOOL!!
For an example... Listen to 50 Cent's "Ayo Technology" Featuring Justin Timberlake!

And hey.. I'm bein' serious about dat.. Jus' pay attention and you guys will know whut I'm talkin' about!

hahahah i agree with you, i thought of using that a while back.=[ but too bad he beat me to it shucks. how do you get samples like that? from nintendo?

Timbo is a great producer no doubt, but those synths he's using are easily recreated using Vanguard, Nexus or firestorm. Come and learn more production skills at www.pointblanklondon.com

I'd like to repeat special-T's and my questions:

Qs1. How do u sample stuff like a Nintendo game sound

Qs2.Is there something that a Roland V synth can do that Reason 3 can't? I mean why is the V synth so hyped?

ayo technology also uses a vanguard preset, i believe it utilizes a c64 wave and/or a digital wave. its not a sample from the nintendo, but its emulating the sound engine. google amiga c64 etc

the roland v-synth can do alot more than reason 4, and vice versa.
they incorporated some new sampling technology in the v-synth, which involves timestretching, pitching, tempo etc. i believe someone online posted a page with audio examples of all the new features.
