This guy is one of the most subscribed musicians on youtube and he has 15 million plus views on his videos.
He didn't do any of his promotion work. He simply put a video on youtube, the rest was in the "peoples" hands. Same with any other successful viral musician.
I doubt that Tay Zonday of Chocolate Rain knew in advance that his video was going to get over 38 million views. His promotional efforts had very little to do with the fact that his video go so many views. Its all in the sharing.
If its great and people like it for whatever reason, then they will share it.
I learned that in order to be successful with my you:
a) better pour a ton of money or time in to promotion.
b) have a hot product that people will want to share.
So this is the conclusion that I came to. Put your time into the actual craft/content. If its great then people will come, its inevitable.
