man unforgettable is the hottest track on there to me.... but i'm a south head so jeezy probably is the reason i liked it.... but that shitt 40 did to that beat is crazy....

This goes to j mccoy. If Drake was going to rap and sing he could have at least use a format or concept similar to lauren hill. if u notice her music was balanced and stayed true to hip and r&b. i don't know what to call this garbage
What exactly did you expect from this album though? He stayed in his lane, mixed a little rap with a little R&B. He's the definition of "Hip-Pop". What did you expect him to talk about? He talked about struggling with fame, money, women, dying, etc...Pretty much the same shit he said on So Far Gone, just not as well. Everyone knew this is the direction he was heading after he put out So Far Gone. He can't talk about street stuff cause he's not street, so in my opinion he really stayed in his lane content wise from Fireworks to Thank Me Now.

The shit is still wack to me... But after hear it a few more time on the way to work.... I have to say it has 1 or 2 OK tracks

Even though he is braggin as usual this is pretty good, better than his album shit. And why is he gettin all these Kanye beats but Kanye he wont work with Wale or J cole lol

thats because drake is clearly the new it guy and kanyes trying to go with whats really popping to increase his rep instead of working with the underdogs to give them some cred

and btw drake is the new michael jackson, in a few years hes going to get trampled by a stampede of women just trying to go to a grocery store in some random country while on tour

I got a new thread title:

It's been a year, we need a new Micheal Jackson... NOW!

After listening to it more, i'm beginning to like it more. Light Up & Fireworks are my 2 fav. tracks.

I don't understand what's so great about Light It Up... Personally I would have appreciated it if it were on BP3 instead of Off That.
The beat is simple, and I was hopping for more display of skill from Drake. Jay got him IMO but that's normal so it wasn't really special to me. I got to listen to it again I might be wrong.

I love Show Me A Good Time and Miss Me. I'm hoping for a video for those or at least Flashy... I look that one now... took a minute though.

^I dont know i just love the record. Big Jay fan & Hov went in. Drake did his thing too.

Its growing on me just wish he had more to talk about. I still like room for improvement and come back season better

my favorites from the album are:

-unforgettable
-fireworks
-light up

and i think those are amazing. they are smooth as hell and this track with jeezy gives me goosebumps when aaliyah sample go in.....

I dont think the album is disappointment..... i dont know if people expected history-changing album, but this guy is like 22 years old and thats the pretty ****ing raw album. i hope he'll stay working and comes back stronger

That's one of the reasons that I'm not too fond of how mixtapes are done now. Cats put so much time and energy into mixtapes that by the time they get to their albums a lot of good ideas were exhausted. Now a days the only things that seperate albums from mixtapes are better mixing/mastering and a bar code.

50 Cent only had NYC Buzz with the mixtapes. In fact, most of the country wasn't even up on the mixtape game when 50 was buzzing at his strongest.

Shit with 50 hit a fever pitch when word got out that Eminem and Dre signed him...THAT'S when the whole country took notice...cuz this was at the height of Em's popularity.

But with Drake...he's had songs on national playlists for the better part of a year. Featured on everybody's EVERYTHING. On the Alica Keys album like 8 months before his own album dropped. Performing on awards shows, getting magazine covers, etc, etc...

Not to mention that little TV show called DEGRASI. My 35 year old SISTER knew who Drake was from that TV show...I had no clue about it.

People all over the world knew Drake before his album dropped...that's been over a year ago. 50 didn't even get NATIONAL recognition until Em and Dre signed him.

You make it sound like this was through the power of drakes music alone... Really it was the same thing that happened to fifty cent. Lil wayne cosigned him at the height of his career and anything wayne cosigns will automatically sell across the United States because people are such die hard fans for him. Thats why he was able to make moves like he did. NOt just because his mixtape was good .

Here is the review from allhiphop.com

From Illmatic and Doggystyle to Get Rich or Die Trying and College Dropout, the classic debut has become somewhat of a prerequisite for a new artist aspiring for greatness. While there are certainly exceptions, the majority of hip hop’s premier acts made sterling first impressions. As if crafting a timeless LP wasn’t challenging enough, Toronto’s own 23 year-old wunderkind Drake, has a whole other set of standards to live up to. While what Nas, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Kanye West accomplished was unquestionably extraordinary, none of them did it with a critically acclaimed mixtape, two Grammy nominations, a year of Billboard chart domination and all of the pressures that come with these accolades weighing on them. With appearances and production from the highest echelon of rap and r&b stars in tow, Drake attempts to meet the expectations that tower over him with his official debut album, Thank Me Later.
The album begins with the warm ivories of the Alicia Keys-featured “Fireworks.” Though somber for an introduction, “Fireworks” picks up right where So Far Gone’s “The Calm” left off, with a snapshot of Drake’s current mindset. “Money just changed everything. I wonder how life without it would go/ from the concrete, who knew that a flower would grow/looking down from the top and its crowded below/ my 15 minutes started and hour ago.” Proclaims a clear-headed Drizzy. His signature introspective musings continue on album stand-out “The Resistance,” where he details his troubles maintaining relationships with people who he doesn’t see as frequently as he once did and whom he promised he would ‘never change.’
While in-house producer 40 is responsible for several of the album’s highlights, the trunk-rattling double-time drums of the Kanye West-produced “Show Me a Good Time” is a welcome departure from the album’s peaceful and reflective beginnings; as is the variation of Drake’s delivery, which can become a little monotonous on other offerings. As the album progresses, Heartbreak Drake goes toe-to-toe with musical titans including Jay-Z, T.I., Young Jeezy, The Dream and of course Lil’ Wayne. While most artists run the risk of losing their identity on such a feature-heavy project, Drake not only holds his own but is in most cases the driving force behind these collaborations, forcing the featured artist to adapt to his sound, a theme carried over from So Far Gone.
The album is not without its flaws, but finding them requires a keen ear. Sure Swizz Beatz’ chorus on “Fancy” is a little bit annoying, Timbaland’s production on “Thank Me Now” is somewhat underwhelming and the straightforward r&b offerings don’t quite stack up to those on So Far Gone, but despite these minor hiccups there are no true ‘lows’ to be found on Thank Me Later.
Unlike many debut albums from potential future legends, this is not listeners’ first time hearing a full-length collection of songs from Drizzy. This subtracts from the surprise factor and handicaps Drake somewhat as people are already familiar with his signature sound. It is impossible to listen to Thank Me Later without comparing it to Drake’s genre-altering 2009 mixtape So Far Gone. But Drake knows that and rather then competing against his brilliant achievements he chooses to expand on them by creating the perfect companion LP. Thanks.

WTF a classic no way, who got paid for this review

I felt the total opposite of that AHH review up there..

Sum1 gave me a free copy, That was the first time I threw a cd out the window..

I've been listening to it the last few days non-stop, I'd say this is gonna find its way into my top 5 albums of all time. So Far Gone was already up there.

I think its just the type of album you either like or you don't. Kinda like Kingdom Come.

IMO, this is an outstanding body of work.

Now dude is on top of the world about to release a platinum album in 2010!

Love it or hate it, this album is gonna set him up as a future great in this game.
yup pretty much. it may suck to yall but theres a whole bunch of people out there that dont really know anything about music and they will buy this and think its amazing

but i have to admit it is kind of amazing though
