if drake is ja rule who's gonna be 50??

pretty much, who is gonna DMX the game? all my 80's babies feel me, when that fool dropped in like 98-99, the game was on some shiny suit shit and he totally came from left field. Drake had that effect when he dropped, but "Thank Me Later" dont hit like "Its Dark..." if you feel the analogy im using as far as the "oh shit" factor, not musically or lyric content wise, just effect. (gotta over explain myself on message boards or yall get confused lol, im in no way comparing drake to DMX lol strictly album sound impact on the current state of commercial rap)

Okay...my bad, I know where i got that 500k number from...those INSANE FP predictions, that I said "you must be out of your damn mind" to!

But he did come in at #1, which surprised me.

Drake will easily come in at #1, and again, i wouldn't be surprised if he does Gold or better first week.

Just downloaded it. Maybe I'm the only one... but I like it. Nothing insane, but it's a solid album.

So shoot me.

Listening to it (as i type) & that's pretty much my opinion. Not great, but decent. Scale of 1-10 i give it a 6.5. Who knows it'll probably grow on me more after i've listened more than once. Drake's by far the most emo out the newcomers though, lol.

I liked a couple songs. I can't remember which ones tho cuz they all sound the same. He sings the same note, over the same beat, talking about the same shit. It's a boring album.

i guess my thing is the fact that they call these new emo dudes rap. the main reason that everybody is being thrown off is because this dude was presented to us as a rapper and with the understanding that he was gonna drop a rap album. i dont know what to call this album. i dont know what to call BOB's album. I dont know what to call Kid Cudi's albums but this new crop of rap dudes aint rapping, is this what that "next shit" is supposed to be?

i aint asking for boom baps or crunk shit, but damn does anybody make rap albums anymore? whats with all this so called "hybrid" shit? can somebody point me in the direction of the rappers and not this hybrid shit that these artists keep offering?

Yeah he's def more emo than the others. But it's part of his appeal. He's supposed to be a softie.

Fireworks is my shit. I just played it 3x in a row.

I think I'll save my money and buy 2 copies of the Big Boi album.

im hella heated lol, this album is such a letdown. this is what im supposed to be banging for the summer? im supposed to be slapping "karaoke" out my speakers while tryna holla at something with my skinny jeans and strange haircut? what am i supposed to play during the daylight hours? this will put a ***** to sleep! why did it sound like i heard this album before? lol

BAHAHAHA!!!!!, That strange haircut shit killed me:rofl:

Its cool for what it is. Nothing I'd really play in the whip but something I'd listen in the headphones when I'm thinking lol. Kudi the most emo to me lol Drake up there though..

It's actually a really solid album, I think people are saying it's such a let down because of the unachievable hype that was built for the album. Y'all are gonna say the same thing about Detox if/when it comes out.

He's got some joints on here though. So Far Gone is still better than the album.

Detox still has hype?

no, the hype was built because of the material that the kid dropped, which was primarily rap music. So Far Gone was pretty RNB'ish, but he was more "cooler" and "harder (pause)" on it. then look at the tracks that came after, Forever, Money 2 Blow, etc. His features were on hard tracks. so thats why everybody is being thrown off yo, this is a total bait and switch right here. if cuddie wanted to be The Dream or Trey Songz, he should have put out an RNB album, not this crap. the tone of the album is wayyy softer than his older material, you dont think so?

What exactly did you expect from this album though? He stayed in his lane, mixed a little rap with a little R&B. He's the definition of "Hip-Pop". What did you expect him to talk about? He talked about struggling with fame, money, women, dying, etc...Pretty much the same shit he said on So Far Gone, just not as well. Everyone knew this is the direction he was heading after he put out So Far Gone. He can't talk about street stuff cause he's not street, so in my opinion he really stayed in his lane content wise from Fireworks to Thank Me Now.
