Drake’s highly anticipated album Thank Me Later has been leaked

Jeezy didn't have nowhere near the national and international buzz that Drake has.

And neither did 50. 50's buzz didn't come along until In Da Club dropped. Drake has been an international superstar for over a year...with NO ALBUM.

50's Buzz was crazy...everyone in NY was playing his mixtapes...In Da Club was the single for the album but he was good already.

LMAO... White girls from the suburbs gonna eat this up ...

And that may be all that matters

PA QUE LO SEPAN....

You cant compare lupe to drake though, that isnt fair. Lupe to J. Cole is a better comparison, and neiter Lupe or Jcole will ever have the ability to write a song like unthinkable for alicia keys.

As far as emceeing goes,Lupe>>Drake

I just thought about something. About a year or 2 ago, when I was doing beats that had thick, atmospheric pads and heavy drums, FP people told me that it was wack, and that i needed to be making TRAP BEETZ...

Now look. The most anticipated debut from a rapper in 10 YEARS is full of the beats that I was making 2 years ago.

#ImJustSayin...

Go with your gut people...strive to be ahead of the curve, and don't ever let someone tell you what you SHOULD be doing.
the thing is most cats on producer boards dont have a vision of the future at all. they make whats hot now and then when their style falls off they go find something else. I remember back in 2005 making 80/electro pop influenced beats and everyone said it was wack 3 years later thats all that was on the radio.

idk about that. To me his buzz came with the mixtapes. In Da Club is when he got commercial attention. 50s street buzz was already there

Why cant i compare them?? Their both rappers. Lupe is the better hip-hop artist IMO. Drake's the better R&B songwriter (although i haven't heard Lupe write anything yet outside of his own material).

Drake's buzz came from Best I Ever Had/feautures on major artist's singles which were worked at major radio by his/their respective labels. 50's national buzz prior to In Da Club was strictly off mixtapes & no national radio play. GRODT was more anticipated than Thank Me Later & definitely lived up to the hype.

In Da Club>>>>>>Best I Ever Had

Jeezy's was the same although to alot lesser degree than 50's.

50 Cent only had NYC Buzz with the mixtapes. In fact, most of the country wasn't even up on the mixtape game when 50 was buzzing at his strongest.

Shit with 50 hit a fever pitch when word got out that Eminem and Dre signed him...THAT'S when the whole country took notice...cuz this was at the height of Em's popularity.

But with Drake...he's had songs on national playlists for the better part of a year. Featured on everybody's EVERYTHING. On the Alica Keys album like 8 months before his own album dropped. Performing on awards shows, getting magazine covers, etc, etc...

Not to mention that little TV show called DEGRASI. My 35 year old SISTER knew who Drake was from that TV show...I had no clue about it.

People all over the world knew Drake before his album dropped...that's been over a year ago. 50 didn't even get NATIONAL recognition until Em and Dre signed him.

^^Nah.... 50 was a BEAST b4 his album....buzz or no buzz everybody heard about him & were waiting for his album (In Da Club was just icing on the cake)...The hype proved to be right as his album was a classic...Drake, not so much. Sorry. His buzz was over hyped & now everybody is realizing that....

Most people on this board never heard of 50 until Em and Dre signed him.

And most people outside of NYC hadn't heard of 50 either.

Remember, the majority of raps fans and consumers don't listen to underground stuff. And until Em and Dre signed him, he was UNDERGROUND.

Thats what Im saying though. When he was underground his buzz started and spread through out New York then through the U.S. and by then overseas...He was still getting his buzz while he was underground...I guess u can say he was getting popular while still doing underground, he didnt need any mainstream help. I remember back in '02 around like August my friend was like 'listen to this'...I was like 'whos that'.....the rest was history.

I'm not from NYC im from Miami. When i was in HS, damn near the whole school was listening to his mixtape b4 In Da Club dropped. Just b/c you didn't know about him doesn't other people outside of NY didn't. Drake was an internet rapper until he started getting national radio play.

Exactly. I discovered him in the same fashion. Had friend i knew who sold CD's & he gave me 50's mixtape for free & i was like who the hell is 50 Cent. Threw the tape in & was a fan immediately.

yeah but that's MIAMI. That's damn near NYC.

Think about a place like Boise Idaho. They have been bumping Drake for the past year. They weren't pumping 50 like that before he dropped.

And think of places like Hamburg Germany. They had no idea what a 50 cent was, but they have been bumping Drake for the past year.

And I been listening to 50 cent since before JMJ signed him.

How is Miami damn near NYC. I know were a major city but nobody in the neighborhood i grew up in was from NYC & neither was dude who gave me the 50 tape. & how would anybody know who was listening to 50 in Idaho & Germany unless they were physically there to witness it first hand?? Now i agree Drake's a bigger national/international star than 50 was at this point w/ no album out but that's b/c the internet was no where near as prevalent in music as it is today & that plus all the big name artist's records he's on is responsible for that. 50's came purely from his music & the G-Unit movement.

Over compared to In Da Club??

21 Questions compared to Find Your Love??

Wanksta??
P.I.M.P??
Many Men???

Say don't worry about the leak y'all ... he got endorsements. LOL.

But I like the album..... it's not Hip Hop if like abstract hip pop... Blame 40 hehehe

That was my point. Anticipation for Drake's debut album is far and above what it was for 50 Cent, if for no other reason, because more people know of Drake than they did 50 Cent at that time.

That's all I'm saying. I'm not saying anything about the quality comparison of the music.

I think 50 said it best in an interview that was posted here when they compared his and drakes buzz. 50's was built on the mixtape game and he wasnt gettin major radio play nationwide but still found away to reach the mass. The first time i heard 50 was How To Rob and I started listenin to him then. Drake had someone behind him pushing and marketing his music cause the radio doesnt play 4 different songs by you in 20 mins no matter how hot your music is unless u just died.

I would blame 40 shebib for the way this album sounds he had like 80 percent work on it.if him and boi1da worked together more and if he had a couple of more different producers it wouldve ben a classic. o well ............... on to recovery

thats a fine line my friend...word of mouth tho, i didnt know much about 50s mixtapes at the time, but i heard of them thru friends, and the anticipation to his album was crazy, and without listening to one song, i copped his album, after listening to multiple songs from drake, i will not cop...more chicks will buy this album than guys, hes ridin that pop hop borderline, i wouldnt knock it in the whip...there may be a couple joints worth bumpin but...nahhh, it would be a huge failure for him if he doesnt atleast go gold after all the hype

There are more people that knew Drake before his first official single dropped, than there were that knew 50 Cent before his first official single dropped.

Thus, more people are anticipating his album than were anticipating 50 Cent's, simply because Drake has more fans at this point in his career than 50 Cent did.

That's the only thing I'm saying.

Quite true, in the U.K 50 cent was pretty much non-existent until "In Da Club" and the whole Em/Dre affiliation. But I've heard of Drake since late 2008.

But you could argue it's because of the internet and social networking sites.
