For hard to find music, I prefer CD to vynil. I am more likely to find the music I want on a CD compilation. I don't have to worry about buying a scratched copy as I would if I bought the music in vynil.

For scratching, vynil can't be replaced. Until recently, there was no way of marking the scratch beats for CD. Even though programmable CD players are now available to save a scratch beat, it's no where near as simple as placing a mark on your vynil. Unfortunately, TTism is an art and only truly appreciated by other TTists.

For mobile DJ'ing. I would have to go with software (I know I'm gonna get a lot of crap for writing this). Setting up with a rack-mount computer, I can reduce the total rig load by over 50%; since I don't have to lug 10-15 crates of music. It's a matter of convenience.

No matter what media you prefer, the only thing that matters is that you can keep the music going non-stop and that your crowd stays on the dance floor.

:hello:

He is not me, he is some1 else using my account. hey hacked my passw. i dont know how. and it not me coz i dont have 100s of records and cd's.. he is ruining my account and my status in the site. man **** this guy, he was someone named like " hi_nrjboy@hotmial.com" i'll just **** him.

same thing here paco, cd's are smaller in size and can carry much song data then records. butu cannot get the real scratch from a cdj or else, so tts takes this place, they are real in scratching. so both have their own places, as for mobile djin, yes a rack mountable computer is good, the www.finalscratch.com is good for everything, jsut take 10 mp3cds, with ya and a dj set 2 TTS and a mixer and a a laptop. ust it. good use of mps on a vinly.:victory:

OK THATS IT.. IT ENDS HERE....

I signed up to this forum because i thought i was going to be around some educated people.. MAN WAS I WRONG..

Some of you are Smart and think before you speak.. but most of you should just stop calling yourself DJ's.

For all of you who said CD DJ's are not real DJ's. Just take a knife and stab yourself in the heart. You must be way to young, and not understand what it's like to make a living as a DJ, and you probably don't have enough experience yet in the club scene. Because if you did.. you wouldn't be saying that at all.

When you get hired for $1000 to DJ at a club for one night.. your main focus is not going to be impressing other DJ's so you can gain there respect.. you want to impress the Club Manager and do whatever you can so that he can rehire you again one day. Club Managers don't give a rats azz what equipment you use.. they care about how you work the crowed.

How close-minded can you be to say that you have no respect for any DJ mixing with CD's?

Does that really matter to you?? If it does then go out to all the clubs, and try to get all the gigs you can to spin with Turntables, and keep trying to gain the respect you think you so deserve. Cause when the time comes i big fat hand will smack you in the back of the head, and you will realize what your doin.

The real fact is that 95% of the people that go clubbing don't give a damn what the DJ is spinning with.. they don't care what equipment they use. The 5% that do care have to be DJ's that are jealous that He/She is not up there spinning.

The # 1 major reason why CD's are better to use in CLUBS..." you don't have to worry about some drunk jackAzz bumping into your gear, and making your equipment skip.. Now that makes you look like a Dork infront of 500 people, and it's not even your fault.

I like to use CD's, and Viynl.. CD's for mixing, and Vinyl for scratching.. basically i use both everywhere i go.. CD's have added a new DJ Element to the DJ INDUSTRY. And if your a DJ that hates CD's then your limiting yourself as a DJ, and you won't achieve great hights in the future, because CD's are the future now, and it's only going to get more technical.

And i know what your thinking too.. Why are DJ's like Qbert, Grandmaster flash, Funk Master Flex, ETC become so popular using Vinyl only????

ANSWER.. Because at their time there were no CD's for them to use.. The technology wasn't there, and it wasn't available for them untill now.. thats why you see all the Big Name DJ's use CD's now.

But if your gonna sit there and tell me that i am not a real DJ because i use CD as well.. then your retarded.

Go out there and get a real club Gig before you speak your rookie minded thoughts in a forum.

The only thing this poll did is show how many people are closed minded.

i'm getting a CDJ unit for the studio to be able to scratch what i want when i want to but none of the clubs or radio where i play have them.

but just a ref, Prince Paul, Biz Markie and JMJ before dieing used them only on the road.

this thread is really silly. There are abilities that you can get only when playing CDs, and there is something you can do ONLY when playing vinyl. Combine ****, use it to make your sets better and louder, I don't see the problem really

James Zabiela--an amazing, innovative DJ who uses two CDJ1000MK2 and a turntable...he's also been DJing for a long time and started with vinyl but moved on when he saw all the potential that playing with CDs had...I only have tt's right now and I'd sell my soul to have the money to buy one of those CDJs--I have so many great tracks on CD that just aren't available on vinyl that it kills me. I guess I just think that DJing is about playing great music(like others have said) and not about the media. These days there are so many cool new tools out there to enhance your performance that I think it's just silly to limit yourself to turntables.

why did you bring back a 3 year old poll that hadnt even been touched in 9 months

Sh1t..i don't even remember replyin to this thread.

wot did i sound like then??..well all i will say now is that i now own 2cdj1000 Mk2 and have done for the past 8mths.

lol....i wasn't even paying attention to the date. Besides, who cares? I wasn't aware there was an expiration on these things. Anyway, interesting to see how FlareWard changed his mind about CDJs

Fo real,

i was die hard , but playing out and using one that belonged to a m8 opened my eye.

Gave me many more options, made the plunge and got one...saved up and hooked up the 2nd one.

Maybe i'm getting old, but transportation and set-up is a lot easier..thats a big plus for me.
