You got to remember though.. MPC is HARDWARE which is made to do, only what it does. The sound quality can not be touched by gimmicky phone apps etc

One day everything will be running on a tablet/touch screen device. That's how i feel about that.

seems like everything is going toward software only..but there will always be those that want that classic feel and workflow

Very few producers use the MPC which is sad. Glad to see producers like Black Milk and Fresh Kils still heavily using it though.

mpc ren brings the mpc right back to where it was in the 90's on top.

for me it's all about feel... i try to make beats with a tablet without any controller just touch screen.. it Don't feel right...

Never ever

i believe the mpc will eventually get replaced, maybe not by an ipad though, because the limitations are abundant enough, both aesthetically, hardware wise, and it's much less of a sandbox than a regular mpc. The new line up of digital controller mpc's will do a number of the mpc market, once you digitize a external device, the sky's the limit as far as what you can do with it.

there is only one gear which likes to be touched my own baby is renaissance but mpc 4000 is at least one of the best sounding gears !!! The feeling is more than making music its experience even if you can touch easily on ipad but its not the same groove.

Hopefully it wont. Technology replacing technology is kind of scary when considering that the difference in the result is seamless and pretty much nonexistent. Sounds a little messy, I know but what I mean to say is that the iPad as an MPC wont be much different than a typical MPC, especially if the iPad is going to emulate it or its functions. Just me doing my sideways thinking haha

I doubt it. The iPad wiil never be able to create the warmth and sound of an MPC, esp the older analog ones. Plus it's a completely different feel on the iPad.

I don't think it will ever be replaced. For example in the synthesizer world, the analogue synth will never be replaced by the virtual synth(at least not for a while). Once the Ipad gets a decent velocity feature it'd be interesting to see what happens.

Ipad doesn't have touch sensitivity like MPC unless you use a pressure sensitive stylus and even then the software has to recognize/utilize it. I can't imagine getting the same precision and it would make my fingers sore trying to precisely twist knobs on ipad.

no the bio feedback you get from tapping will never be subsituted with a flat screen no matter if there is a vibration setting or audio feedback

I never used an MPC neither bought one for that matter. I just started 2 years ago and I bought an iPad because I wanted to use the tons of apps it comes with (especially Lemur). There is an MPC template for that Lemur iPad app so I use on that. Of course I can imagine that touching the synths physically is much better but when you have a tight budget and want to use as many tools as possible iPad would be a better choice.
