Hell no it wont. You cant get things like aftertouch and velocity on an ipad. the ipad only expresses the note like a switch, meaning its either on or off. also you cant press and hold a pad on the ipad and apply pressure to make it louder/queiter.

I think you'll never get the same experience as you get from the mpc, comparing it to a vcr standpoint, there are still some good aspects to hardware compared to digital its just for different purposes

I don't know about you but i love the way the pads feel on my fingers as apposed to the screen of a tablet.

MPC basically replaced itself when it came out the iMPC on the iPad. Yeah, you're limited to the space on the device, but the iPad is starting to become a usable tool in production. I'm on board with it. Yeah, I still got my Maschine setup at home, but i use the iPad when I'm out and have an idea in my head. For now, the game still stands at desktops/laptops and high-end software and equipment, but once the iPad builds up capacity and the processors can compete with PCs and Macs, the line will be blurred once again.

I would say your MPC will probably replaced by a newer beat maschine but not by an Ipad. I think an Ipad is a nice optional hardware but it cant replace all the functions and the real feeling from a MPC. Nothing is forever but I think there will come a lot of new beat making maschines before they all got replaced from a tablet or Ipad. I would keep the MPC and think about to combine your Ipad and MPC if there any options. But its your decision. Peace!

I think that touch screens will get bigger than MPC's, but most pros/good artists will still use MPC's because of the realism of having a real object to play with and use. Touching a screen is not the same as hitting a button.
It is the same as people still want to use and have Analog synths, they sound better, but they also are physical and more real than digital.

It is not necessary to replace it is just expanding the range of tools you know what i do with Beathawk of UVI ? IT IS WONDERFUL. YOU CAN HEAR THE BEATS at Hamudibeats Beatstore .
If you like that share, i will upload videos of the ipad sessions soon.

Kindly Regards

Hello all, I currently have the Akai MPC Studio...

For me, I understand the pros and cons of different hardware, (being a professional drummer as well). I believe it's all personal preference. I would use the iPad gear for a live performance settings because of portability. The MPC would be used for personal creation/home studio because I like the feeling of the pads and the connection it brings.

But my advise would be to NOT SALE your old equipment, unless you have like 5 MPCs, because you never know when you need the features of the MPC or even just going dow memory lane of a good time. But with how fast technology advances and replace older models, i believe every future producer will be more inclined to use smaller portable equipment with more storage over big bulky MPCs because of space and easy of use.

I believe the MPC will eventually get replaced, maybe not by an iPad though, because the limitations are abundant enough, both aesthetically, hardware wise, and it's much less of a sandbox than a regular MPC. The new line up of digital controller MPC's will do a number of the MPC market, once you digitize a external device, the sky's the limit as far as what you can do with it.

MPC very big.. hard to put in dj bag..

I hate too say it but I think this already happened. Its good the NI Machine is kind off a respectfull replacement (better than the ipad atleast)

Once you're used to pressing real-life hardware buttons, it's pretty hard to be satisfied swiping virtual keys on a smooth glass surface.
Then again, I never thought smartphones would catch on the way they did.
I feel old now

MPC will forever be the best, ipads don't have the same feel.

MPC is real thing and its sentimental bc so many classics are created with it.

I dunno, i doubt the ipad will replace the MPC, only cause you'll have those people who would prefer hardware rather than software, and since the rise of apps from ipads, i havent seen much affect on the MPC, however when it comes to products I will say that I have seen a decline in MPC and rise in NI Maschine.

I didn't even know there was an MPC app for the iPad... Thanks for that! haha
