i thought that was just it sounds a lot more like a just blaze beat. drums are a lot fuller and the arrangement itself just sounds like a just blaze beat

I hated Stillmatic outside of Ether and One Mic. I also hated Illmatic. I never got the hype behind Illmatic. Even for the time I can find better albums.

well thats ur opinion ain't no hate. but yo, if you buy the cd, get a dictionary, and a pad and pen(to mark down notes), u will see what the hype was about. the beats were maybe not the best, but if u listen to his flow and the lyrics and his wordplay, you will deff learn sumthin.

btw i never listened to illmatic, only a few songs. if i listen to it now, my flow might change, hehe.

Man do us all a favor and stfu. U haven't heard the album it isn't that good and you are defending it. I won't say its wack but I will say u r an idiot for bringing up old threads and finding an excuse to talk s*it.

im madd that nigga said get a dictionary..

Illmatic wasnt THAT tough to figure out... it was more a display of his discriptiveness.. how he described his surroundings...

i wont go as far as to say it was OVERHYPED.. cause it def is a classic.. but ehh anyways..using 3's for E's.. is that wats poppin in the streets now??

song cry, never change, my momma loves me or whatever, and 1 or 2 mo i like. yea it's overrated.

that reminded me of this...hella funny...
'u jus gonna do ur taxes ness?...is that wuts hot in tha streets?' lmao

Jay-Z's "Blueprint" to me was like Little Brother's "The Listening", it was a placebo effect. Everyone who calls themselves a purisit was so drained from the Timbaland, Neptunes and Swizz Beats era that they were elated that a sampled based album from a superstar artist like Hov came out in the mainstream and getting airplay.

But when I listen the album now, I don't think it wasn't anything I've haven't heard before. It was like Just Blaze and Kanye were doing their very best RZA impersonations.

Still a dope album but not as great as the hip hop media made it out to be.

I think this is hip hop's most overrated album. Sure there are a few good songs such as Takeover, Izzo, Heart of the City, Never Change, Renegade

but there are also some real overrated songs there too like Girls, Girls, Girls, Jigga that Nigga, and Hola Hovito... With that many bad songs, I don't know how I could make this album a classic. Your views?

if you don't like holla hovito peep my version, I think the original was hot though.

I hated it at first....because it was Jay. Today, I think its a classic. Soulful **** for real. Reminded me of old Jigga when I actually took the time to listen.

I think personally it is tied with reasonable doubt with black album third and it is a classic album front to back loved every song Hola Hovito though underrated fit the album.

I don't know how people can say Hola Hovito is overrated. The production on that song is ridiculous. I would listen to a 4 minute instrumental and not get bored.

^^^Even Timbaland said that was his best beat a while back(I'm sure know he'll prolly think JT's My love).

I think you have to own a good monitoring chain to really appreciate that track. All the little sounds that come and go and the mix on that track is still ahead of stuff put out today.

I would have to agree with DaOriginalBlade. The production on The Blueprint is awesome. As far as lyrical content, I'm not sure. Some of what Jay Z says is recycled, but some of what he says is amazing. In my opinion it is the best flow and delivery Jay Z has ever put down on a CD.

What I loved about The Blueprint was the timing of it and its purpose and influence. At a time when all albums were going synth and needed a huge guest roster in order to sell albums, I thought this one took us back to the good old days but without being too nostalgic. It was entirely sampled from amazing producers that would only get bigger since then and there was only ONE guest on the whole album. Blueprint did a great thing for hip hop, show that the old way can still be done without having to sound dated.
