Anyone else here think the Blueprint is overrated?

opinions.

me personally, the line (not gonna recite it. not from blueprint) where he talks about deadtime on the block and selling weight wet told me this dude knows the reality of that sh!t. that one line 'with one eye open like peter gaitien(sic)' was surreal cause i just saw an a&e special on the dude and studio 69.

i do agree he should go back to writing and i blame him for all these rappers not puttin' pen to pad like they're lyrical giants.

blueprint, imo, isn't overrated but the em/jay tune never got any burn on my player.

the girls girls girls remix is one of my favorite beats. kanye killed that beat.
i thought that was just it sounds a lot more like a just blaze beat. drums are a lot fuller and the arrangement itself just sounds like a just blaze beat

No, I think Stillmatic is Hip Hop's most overrated album. Seriously, Blueprint was a BIT overrated over the years, but it was a solid album that wasnt overwhelmed by guests, which i absolutely detest about most hip hop albums today. Blueprint will be considered a classic, no doubt. Overall though, I think a lot of peopl are right that Reasonable Doubt was Jay's Illmatic (not quite on that level though). I think people should look at other albums as being overrated, like that 5 mics Stillmatic or Late Registration (am I gonna get hated on for that?).
I hated Stillmatic outside of Ether and One Mic. I also hated Illmatic. I never got the hype behind Illmatic. Even for the time I can find better albums.

Kanye did Girls, girls. The remix he did is fire too.

I know Just did the orignal Girls Girls Girls Im looking at the credits right now the only problem is that the cd doesnt have credits for the remix but the beat itself does not sound like a kanye west beat it sounds just like a just blaze beat

Girls Girls Girls is a good track for what it is

And Renegades is big

I think this is hip hop's most overrated album. Sure there are a few good songs such as Takeover, Izzo, Heart of the City, Never Change, Renegade

but there are also some real overrated songs there too like Girls, Girls, Girls, Jigga that Nigga, and Hola Hovito... With that many bad songs, I don't know how I could make this album a classic. Your views?
u crazy for this one, u should be banned for starting threads like this..that album is a classic

"See, i'm a poet to some, a regular modern day Shakespeare
Jesus Christ, the King of these Ladder Day Saints here"

This is sick b/c the ladder day saints study Shakespeare texts at church, just to show how clever Em was in this song.

LMFAO at "ladder day saints"

Someone let me know when ladder day is.

PS....its "Latter Day Saints". Just thought you should know, so you don't offend any mormons when you ask them what they like so much about ladders if you ever meet one.

you are disowned from tha FP family. Be gone!

I listen to Heart of the City and Never Change like they just came out.

To be honest I only listened to Blueprint for the first time like 2 weeks ago.

Reasonable Doubt. Then Blueprint.

*throws on flame suit*

Reasonable Doubt just cause it has THE HARDEST 1st track EVAH.

But really? Peep those verses on Can't Knock The Hustle, Politics As Usual, (of course) Dead Presidents II, D'Evils, Can I Live, Cashmere Thoughts, Bring It On, Regrets....

MAN. Sure Blueprint defined a sound, put producers on the map and etc etc...

But when I personally wanna hear Jay at his best, on that (Big Willy shyt)

THIS is the album that goes on.

But hold up, Blueprint aint no slouch though.

a good way to decipher a kanye beat from a just blaze beat is simply listening to the drums and the style of arrangement. if u listen to that alone its kind of obvious that both are just blaze beats

Finally... a voice of reason. I mean... FL. I mean... nigga, you know what I mean.

Hip hop post 95 is overrated, marketing the product well meant it didn't depend on quality anymore.

this album was probably that last certified classic that i agree with (no, lil kim's album did not deserve 5 mics and neither did face or nas). beats aside, jay might not have been lyrically lyrical but the swagger and vibe on this album is amazing.

"Shut ya bumba, I got A-Rod numbers
All you muddaskunks get buried in the trunk
When I blast the pump, I leave you relaxed
In the hospital lookin' at M*A*S*H for months"

nothing ground breaking but that **** just sounds hot.

how can you hate on hola hovito? that beat is DISGUSTING.
