If they believe they have the authority to take a child because you won't give them drugs, I don't see why they wouldn't take adults. And you don't believe in defending yourself so....It's not really a pick your poison situation. Talk to the people you trust, not some person with a leather couch and a clipboard.
It is a pick your poison we just have different opinions of these issues. really me having a gun isn't gonna stop the government from taking my rights. Plus my neighborhood is just recovering from a kid getting hit by strays from a guy defending himself from getting robbed. So my belief on the guns isn't really changing.
Onto getting professional help it's a toss up. I had a friend who was seriously depressed, told her family and they brushed it off. We as her friends knew, but there is only so much we can do. We're not trained to treat a depressed person. Best thing she did was actually seek professional help. Turned her life for the better. These type of situations aren't uncommon with depression. Now for the different ways of treating depression you can argue that out.
