Has there been a greater thread than this in FP history?
So much knowledge was dropped and we should continue.

One of the other issues I have is that you speak about branding and say how PMP gives you the spotlight for A&Rs, then turn around and say **** placements. You see the irony?

I don't recall saying "F' placements lol but I'm sure I've stated that landing placements in itself does not EQUATE having a career because of the current state of retail combined with free online access of music. This means the producers must now diversify their revenue streams in order to sustain financially. In order to do so first and foremost you must address to things: RELEVANCY and CREDIBILITY. Why do people even want a 'placement' to begin with? So they can start gaining R&C which in turn they hope can translate to more opportunities to get more work (and hopefully more income). But if PAID placements are going out the window along with the Album format WHAT ELSE can be done to address R&C? Well one action is organizing the content (music production) in one location for EVERYONE, from the A&R to the 16 year old kid that just wants to rap over a beat for fun and the PMP has done this. Its all about promoting and marketing your brand as a business, not just making beats and 'hoping' you get saved by some A&R. Are you a slave or a boss? The boss mentality is needed for LONG term viability at this point of the business.

If a producer doesn't give a damn about Relevency and Credibility and just wants to make beats and make a few dollars then he doesn't need to be on the PMP he can just use Myspace and Soundclick. This is the option for most since its easier to hope that someone else invest in your product than yourself. This is the Wild Wild West lol

If a producer believes that the only route to success is to get major label placements then they can utilize some of the credible shopping companies such as Istandard, Dynamic Producer and Musicplacements which are based on the 'agent middle man' concept extended to the Internet.

Conferences can be a benefit both knowledge wise and possibly relationship wise but geographical constraints limit the wide spread effect.

The PMP I already broke that done previously.

The ones that are really on their grind will use a combination of several routes and give themselves as many opportunities as they can afford that make sense and are credible.

I agree, its time for people to stop taking a fantasy approach expecting a realistic outcome! Knowledge is power. I get a check from your favorite label (1755 Broadway is a goldmine lol, dumb ass *******!) not because of 'who I'm down with' and all that other silly **** but simply because I understand more about the relationship between music and the changing consumer than they do. Research analysis my K-1ne friend.

And I'd rather sit and listen to 100 producers on PMP instead of 10000 on MySpace.
The fact that somebody is paying $50 a month to be on PMP tells me instantly that they are serious with their music.
How do I know Lil Young Hot Beatz on MySpace is a hobbyist or professional?

Kaboom, somebody gets it. Technology is about convenience.

Ill take you up on that battle noyzi
yeah...i'm down man...let me know the conditions, it's whateva, a flip it sample or a perticular acapella or whateva...i gotta go to work i'll be back this afternoon....

Rest of ur post is quality...and the **** placements thing was a paraphrase lol

Anyway, when u say PAID placements, u need to clarify for some ppl who don't fully understand. When ur dealing with an artist who is gonna get some airplay, then taking a hit on ur advance doesn't mean it's not a paid placement. Make sure your PUBLISHING is right because your advance is just a piece of your publishing given to you upfront.

Diversification is key, but your money needs to come from somewhere. If "paid" placements are going out the window, like you say, then PMP loses it's value as well because what good would your R&C be to people who can't help you get money?

To me, publishing is very important so you need to get yourself in a position to be able to collect. Developing your own artist is pretty much a must. Having a side hustle of music made strictly for commercial purposes is a must. Reaching out and trying to get on major label records that will get you some nice publishing also doesn't hurt.

That's beside countless other side hustle you can get into when involved in this industry and it's countless hustlers. Opportunities reveal themselves when you're out and about and networking with EVERYONE. Not just industry dudes. Talk to random ppl and at the right moment tell them what you do. They will tell you what they do or what their cousin's sister's uncle's friend does that's semi related. Exchange info, follow up, and see if u can get money together.
