When will you youngsters learn these 'industry cats' don't run ****? You should NEVER censor yourself or water down what you stand for just to please some industry nigga. The days of A&Rs and industry insiders dangling a carrot in front of a mule (inspiring artist and producers) is over with. It's time you niggas grow some ****ing balls.

You control your destiny.

amen!

No your right why should a producer have to pay for anything? And why should a artist or label pay a producer for anything. And why should the consumer have to pay for anything. Nobody has to pay for NOTHING and everybody can just enjoy creating and consuming music minus a business model. If that's your belief then that's fine. The HYPOCRISY comes in when your saying why should i have to pay for anything but expect the major label system to not only pay you for your product but invest additional revenue to blow up the record so you can have a career. This is the definition of a PROSTITUE. Thank goodness people like Russell Simmons, Master P, Eazy E, J Prince, Flash, Bam, etc... did not approach the game like a bunch of hoes and actually saw investment into their own commodity as a valuable resource which helped made it possible for YOU to sit on this FREE message board and talk about what you THINK should be the case as oppose to what it IS. Continue...

Wow, is that what you comprehended from my post. No comment.

That's life man.

The government makes millions a year from people registering businesses when there isn't even a big enough market for most of them to succeed.

Some web hosting services and domain registration companies make millions from people setting up websites when most of them end up loosing money (including popular ones like youtube).

And ISP's that everyone is paying to even ACCESS the Internet. The point is you cannot have a issue with spending money and call yourself doing business. If your broke (which is the source of alot of this nonsense) or if you don't believe in yourself as much as you hope someone else does by putting your money where your mouth is then the problem lies within yourself. As I said before its the people with the LEAST relevancy in the music business that tend to not understand what is really going on in 2009. There is a proven correlation between ignorance and poverty.

So y'all know that G-Unit A&R TonyG has recently started doin some live streams. I've been wanting to catch one of his streams and was able to see about 10 mins of one last night before I had to do some international meeting thing. When I came in, he was talking about sites like PMP and saying how he doesn't really **** with them cuz he doesn't have time to go thru unfiltered material. He says he already has a network of ppl who filter the crap out and bring him the best beats. Even then, he has thousands of beats to go thru. Why would he bother going thru a PMP track dump that's not even filtered? He doesn't have time for that.

Now the disclaimer to this is that he's linked up with MusicPlacements, so it doesn't do him any good to bigup any other site, but what he says actually makes sense.

Just felt like ppl who missed the stream should know this. Take it for what it's worth and make your own decisions.

* Troup, this is in no way an attack on you. I know you love PMP

lol funny thing is, they do filter out the crap production on PMP.. and there are alot of A&R's besides TonyG from G-Unit that go to PMP all the time ...

the question is, did you make that up??

Let me drop some science to all. PMP is cool but I don't think it's worth paying $50 a month and not get your tracks placed. The info is nice on there, I go there to look at the info and see what Bernie the Attorney has to say along with other industry buzz.

I was taught "NEVER PAY MONEY TO GET YOUR TRACKS HEARD".

If you want to get your tracks heard, here are some ways.

1. Do the leg work, make sure your tracks are hot and network around top executives not some lame street wanna be rapper cat.
2. Make sure your beats are tight and you know how to make music, have your own studio, and get very aquainted with a publisher who can push your music to various places, via, movies, albums, games, etc!
3. Get a manager whether it's a personal manager who will do the leg work for you, or get an attorney to work as a service, meaning if you're going to pay might as well pay the attorney. Just don't get any attorney, check out their record and see who they are doing business for.

This is terrible advise, who the hell is "Bernie the Attorny"?

1. networking with top executives is good, but networking with your peers people at your level is better. Work with your community and build it up.

2. this is cool.

3. Fuk a manager, get an entertainment attorney first. you need to make sure your business is in order. you also need to do the work and not pass the work to someone else because you are either too lazy or 'buzy' to do it yourself. but do homework on who your doing business with

I'm pretty sure it's filterd to the best of their ability, lol. But to filter all that bullshyt out they would have to outsource you music out to China. Imagine a typical track dump, at least 100,000 plus participants, three tracks a piece, you do the math. You be better off sending a mini mp3 player in a bottle over the atlantic.

Well... what about Legal Dollaz post? Or mine?

Really you giving them too much credit. It's not like they are monopolizing the market. They have cats that have gotten on from soundclick....and myspace. Nothing is promised even if you put in the work.

The fact remains that the music industry is not set on finding real talent and changing the music scene right now. There are damn near broke just like the majority of the U.S. The reason for all these bullshyt websites isn't to provide one with placements and networking opportunities, it's to line their pockets with big bucks while the music industrly is in freefall.

Where are you getting all of this from??? There ain't no 100,000 members of PMP. HAVE YOU EVEN BEEN TO THE WEBSITE??

Go there, go to the producers section, put the producers per page at 300, and count how many pages you get.

And I don't understand why PMP shouldn't make any money. I dot get why you think they are robbing peoe blind...

Business is about making money. PMP provides a valuable service. Some people take advantage of it, some don't.

It's business...jus like music production. And it's very clear that you don understand the fundamentals of BUSINESS.

pmp doesnt shop beats.
never have they claimed to

their job isnt getting you placements at all either
they never guarantee sales
its simply to promote your music

the catch with pmp is that alot of eyes are on the site who NEED music for projects
so you have a better chance of making a connection to some one who is looking to work (vs a myspace or a soundclick)

excellent post

You take the tools available, and you build your brand.
The tools are there to help.
It's up to you if you want to use them or not.

LOL. Let me see, let me throw out a small number uhhhh 10,000 people. That's still 30,000 tracks brother, do you know how long it takes to "Critically listen" to just 1000 tracks, weeks, if not months. You have been a featured producer on their website not because of your talent, in which you have admitted yourself, but through marketing yourself. Now how sad is that.

You JUST DONT GET IT.

And that's ok. Cuz those that do are making money hand over fist. And you are sitting back wondering how they are doing it.

You don't need anyone, industry wise, to make noise for yourself. Making great music, promoting your music, and gaining fans is still the foundation of ANY artist's career. With technology and a great work ethic, you CAN do ANYTHING by yourself...for yourself.

exactly...

i have always thought that it's okay to have a "fukc you" attitude in this game...and always will...

Is that so. We got a Miss Cleo in this mofo. If you were making so much money brother, you would have taken off that PMP shroud by now.

I've said that I'm a featured producer not because of my talent???

LMFAO!!!

Please show me where I said that!!!

And you still didn't bother to go to th website and see how many members are on the PMP.

You just want to piss and moan, not get info. I'm done with you.

Your wrong AGAIN, the site has less than 1,000 producers on it. Don't let your hate blind you to the facts. Investigate properly and take the time to LEARN. Because a good amount of producers that have already done what you hope to do are on the PMP and that's the facts. Some stay on the sidelines worrying about other people's paper while some go out and make it happen.
