Why do people use older versions of FL Studio?

That's like asking why do people use the MPC 60, when they can get the 4000........

...even tho they have since fixed the bug im sticking with 6 its what i know so why change?
Because 7 still *is* exactly what you know plus some new stuff. If you don't neeed them, don't use them. You can still use version 7 exact the same way you're used to in 6. You might even chance upon a new feature you do not have in 6 and find out that you really like it. The update is free but it's of course your choice. Maybe if you're on a 56K dial up modem downloading such a huge file could be an issue or if you have the boxed version of course, but otherwise... ?

The issue with sx3 is that users were promised a final update that never happened.
Then stieny was like "hey here's c4 get your wallets out", and "check out Sequel! We invent the vst standard, but release a sequencer that can't use vst" lol.

Some of the unhappy sx3 customers have left for other sequencers, because of the poor customer support.

It almost seems like are people leaving Cubase just because they wanna stick it to them out of principle.

Direct sampling within FL, drag'n'drop from Edison to sampler/granulizer/slicer channels from within FL itself without needing to first save stuff somewhere then load it in FL, hence improving workflow and ease of use. Just to name 1 out of 1000 of the advantages.
Of course, if one does not like it from the start, you can name even all of the 1000 advantages and they would all still not be good enough. :D

There's also the added CPU overhead all the new changes bring. I have 4 machines that I use FL on - 2GHz Pentium D laptop, Athlon XP2000+ desktop, Celeron 466 Desktop, Pentium 233MMX laptop. The P233 laptop cannot run FL7 well at all, but 5 flies on it and 6 is useable to a lesser degree. The C466 machine works well with 6, not so well with 7, and screams with 5.

The other two machines work well with any version.

If you have a slower machine (for whatever the reason), upgrading FL is usually not in your best interest.

i bought fl studio 7 because of what i heard about edison and the FL slicer

those are gifts from the "sampling gods"

im saving up for an mpc though so i probably wont use fl at all when i get it

I'm with ya there Scientific Knowledge. I've got FL 7. But I'm saving for an MV 8800. So when I get that, I probably won't use FL anymore.

the biggest thing with fl7 for me was they took away the ability to right click the wav or soundfont icon to send it to the channel instantly. Major workflow issue. I don't like some appearance changes also. Seems they take features away with certain upgrades and also create new bugs.

What are you talking about? It's still there.
@ Sinosure: Nice setup degradation. Congrats. lol

The main reason why I like FL Studio 6 and above is because they got the multi band compressor and the new eq is a hell of a lot better than the old parametric eq because you can paint your waveform basically. There is a bunch of other cool stuff too. You won't know what your missing until you try it. Of course you have to pull up almost every plugin and try it out but its worth it...i like tinkering and pushing buttons anyway...

check for yourself, right click sample send doesn't work anymore when clicking on the sample icon. Changed in FL7

It does here. That's what I get after right-clicking a sample in FL7:

FL does not support any CPU not having the SSE3 instruction set anymore. So it actually won't even start on a computer using a Pentium 233MMX processor. I can't imagine it "not running well" there because it, well.. won't run at all.
The 2 GHz Pentium D though should be just fine.

It does here. That's what I get after right-clicking a sample in FL7:

exactly, did it send the sample across or give you a menu? Pre FL7 it sent the sample across, so you could roll through sounds instantly. You could always get that menu when clicking on the sample itself, but when you clicked on the icon, no meny, it just sent it. When you work fast and roll through sounds to find the right one, that's a big deal.

Did it really work that way before? Never used it that way. Interesting. Then I think drag'n'dropping the sample from the browser is now the way to go. That's how I always use to load samples anyway, so I never noticed it.

I don't know but maybe its just some sort of bug? Something they forgot to re-implement in the new browser? Something that was overlooked? Reporting it to the official forums might lead to an answer if it was left out on purpose or was just sort of an accident. Who knows.

I don't care for Sdison, because I have and am comfortable with Soundforge, and also you can open Soundforge from FL... Also, As Squito knows I do use FL 4 and I have used FL 5, FL 6, and FL 7, I just perferr 4 better.... Plus all those new plugins I can use without having to upgrade anyway.... It's too easy to do....I'm not upgrading until I see fit, although I will test it out I just won't use it like that... Another thing, for those who say they are just waiting to get hardware then they'll dump FL, I have an MPC 2000XL. That's my baby first and foremost, but I'm still a beast on Fruity Loops 4......
Peace

I never noticed that either but you can still do the same thing by just control/clicking on the sample name or icon. It goes straight to the channel.

How proud L.A. now is finding out stuff Sqito didn't before. Just kdding. :D
