Why do people use older versions of FL Studio?

I never noticed that either but you can still do the same thing by just control/clicking on the sample name or icon. It goes straight to the channel.

Nice, I brought this up at the FL forums and they never mentioned that. Is this info in the FL help guide or the FL bible? seems like there are features people stumble upon that aren't in the guide. Still though, I usually have one hand on the keys and one on the mouse so still a hindrance.

LOL. Indeed it is something to be proud of. But it really does show just how well thought out FL Studio is. I actually thought it should work like that because it's just logical. Sure enough, that's exactly how it worked. Extremely well thought out programs like Cubase and FL are always like that for me. I can guess how a feature probably works, and be right.

FL is filled with stuff like that. If you want to discover them, it's best to go clicking, control clicking, alt clicking etc on anything and everything. I did that recently in the piano roll and was shocked at how great FL's piano roll is. I've never seen another piano roll go so far to make it easy to deal with notes.
