Who isn't following you back on Soundcloud?

Hey fellas. A few days back, I thought of scratching an itch I'd had for quite some time - soundcloud spam followers. People who follow you, and after you reciprocate, they unfollow you. It was getting hard to go through the 'following' and 'followers' lists one by one and finding out who isn't following me back. Now, I follow some people whose music I enjoy a lot, so I don't mind if they don't follow me back, but spam followers is a different thing, they waste your time. So I made an app that lets me find out who in my 'following' list isn't part of my 'followers' list, viz., who isn't following me back. And then I realized that others could use it too, so I made it into a website. It's at The Soundcloud CircleJerk (or The Soundcloud CircleJerk - I didn't use this domain because it sounded like a porn spam link), whichever you prefer.

I hope fellow soundcloud users find it useful to weed out the spam accounts they might be following! I'm open to feedback and suggestions. Thanks!

P.S. I posted the link in a reply in another part of the forum, but thought I'd start a separate thread for it.

It's the same thing for twitter unfortunately... People don't want earn a fanbase and think that inventing followers means money, not the case. Hell I used to think that, but we all learn from our mistakes at one point or another.

For real. I don't follow anyone back unless they left a comment or a like on more than one track. You can see my followers out weigh my following for this reason.

This. Like seriously why follow someone just cuz they followed you? I only follow folks I like

Although I just started fooling around with soundcloud I follow who I like, not who follows me. Even though it'll take more to gain ahead of steam this way.

This x 2. Some people think that if they follow/like/give positive feedback, then it means, that the other person should do the same, which is ridiculous. I've seen some people with 2000+ followers, and was like "WOW, HOW DID HE GET THAT", then I notice his "following" list...2500+ people. Seriously? This is some kind of bullshit.

I made a application to check who unfollowed you (when you log in the next time) and shows who you follow who doesn't follow you.
I can't post links here, but it's at labs dot ianquigley dot com slash SC. Or go to ianquigley dot com if you have trouble finding it.

I normally check out the profile of the person that started following me. If it is made of only reposts of other people's music (not their own) I simply don't follow them back, as it may be a bot/false account.

Hey man, this worked fine. Thanks @studiomurk just what I needed.

I am in the camp with the "follow those I like, not those who follow me"

I don't see the point of following an 8 bit beat creator just because he likes my creations and follows me.
I haven't used SC in a while...not even sure I remember my login at this point in fact, but when I get back into it I am going to start from scratch and create a new profile and follow those with styles I admire in some way. If they follow me back thats great but I hope they follow me for the same reasons I follow them.

Out of curiosity what is the etiquette with SC regarding comments? Is it bad form to leave less than good comments on a beat or song? I am not saying always negative but actual constructive criticism, it seems like people only leave positive comments no matter the quality of what is being presented.

there is no etiquette in terms of sc comments unless you happen to be a nice guy - anything goes; but you can be reported as a spammer by the artist if they are so inclined (most would be foolish to use a negative comment as the basis of a spam report, as they require a pattern of spammy posts before they will act)

I prefer to follow those who I consider to be creating great music, so my list of who I follow is very limited - a select few from my past and a select few of the current crop who have impressed me with their musical skill and craft

I agree not a fan of those who follow and then unfollow, when you follow back it seems a few people are doing this on soundcloud these days. I don't know if any of you are aware but there are some free tools to track new followers, unfollowers and people who don't follow back some are software based but I use "unfollowspy" its web based and allows you to quickly remove these time wasters from your profile, works on Twitter and Instagram as well. Just google it if you are interested

Hope it helps you.
