The first thing I bought was a hercules rmx and I immediatly regret doing that because now I just use Fl Studio 10 and Ableton live 8 and am saving up money to get pro tools and a mbox and a better midi keyboard you really don't need much more equipment then that now for straight beat production unless your really going to invest a lot of money and get the best of the best for hardware then its worth it.
