What is Trip Hop? Overview/History/Links

Just run a search on any of the DJ's listed in my original post. They are a good stepping stone from Hip Hop to Trip Hop.
My personal favorite has to be Krush, but it all depends on your taste.

Man!!!! I hate it when I get an email from FutureProducers....and it says "new post".

I'm all excited to see what someone's gonna say...and I get the link, copy, paste to browser...and see this one lil dinky sentence with nothing to it! :(:D;)

I am surprised i didn't see Red Snapper on the list..."In Deep" with beth orton on vocals is a classic as well as "loopascoopa" excellent stuff...

I'm sorry, I just find it a little disrespectful. You immediately alerted a mod instead of sending me a PM or even a post on the threads here. I'm a nice guy. I wouldn't bite your head off for something as trivial as a sig, bro. I would of happily obliged. Now, I'm gonna voice how I feel...

Sifu...you totally jumped to the wrong conclusion about me. I really don't consider it respectful in a forum to ask you to change anything. I didn't want to disrespect you...so I didn't call you out. It's not my call. Ultimately it's the mods.

I wasn't trying to narc...and Mano and Chuck Pump know that. No worries man. Just misunderstood my intentions. :)
 
No problems, but please, next time address the problem directly with me before you take it to the mods. Mods are for beef.

If it's clogging bandwidth (which I had no idea it was) then I would of gladly taken it down. No questions asked.

You have to understand how I feel. You treated the problem like I was unapproachable. As I stated before, I'm a nice guy. A simple, "Hey, man. I can't view FP cause of your incredibly nice banner." would have sufficed ;)

I understand where you are coming from. You want me to address you directly. Understood.

Unfortunately I don't have any pull in here and don't want to start a confrontation by contacting you directly. This is the reason we have mods.

If you're worried about the mods getting on to you...don't be. They are awesome guys.

I've been on this forum for 3 years and have noticed in that time that it's best to bring concerns to them first. I can tell that you are a great guy. I've seen some of your posts. I've got nothin but love for ya.

Having said that...me going to the mods is just following procedure and was in no way a crack on you. I've got nothin but love for ya. :)

What about the french duo Air?

They're classified as Trip Hop everywhere I shop but when compared to other big trip hop names out there like portishead, jazzanova Dj Krush etc. their music creates a completely different mood.

Trip-hop is inspired by hip-hop but clearly Air's music is highly influenced by 70s prog and kraut rock artists. Maybe 'Minimalism' or 'Abstract' is a better description of this sub-genre however it does cross boundaries with Acid Jazz and Ambient Pop.

I sometimes find it hard to describe to people what trip hop is although I listen to and create a lot of trip hop music.

Well, more ignorant people tend to drop everything slightly electronic and not-so-uptempo into 'trip-hop'. Bit of a same thing when about ten years ago (and still to some folks) everything electronic was 'techno'. :)
 
lol.....yeah back in tha day if u placed one electro synth in a hip-hop beats it's automatically techno....lol....even now people r being silly with that......
