Other - a combination of audacity and hammerhead rhythm station

Some would laugh at that idea, but sample based hiphop does not need specific tools.
Any sampler+sequencer can be used to squeeze out your ideas.

I'm not feeling SliceX for the same reason, it's sort of like Edison-meets-Fruity Slicer, minus the most crucial feature: recording.
That's what drag'n'drop is for. Record in Edison, trim the begin & end of the sample, [make some edits like EQ, normalize] and drag'n'drop from Edison to Slicex. It couldn't get any easier even if Slicex could record directly. (the trimming, EQ,... etc. could also be done in Slicex, so it's actually just one click-drag away)

The whole thing is, i need a non-destructive timestretcher like Battery has. with edison, you kinda gotta just change the selection and hope for the best. 10-20 minutes down the line sometimes, i decide i want a different pitch, or a different tempo of the beat. i dont want to repeatedly alter the file, y'know?

having used both long enough to know the ins and outs. Nothing can beat the effectiveness of edison inside fl8. That thing is awesome.

love the routing and reason interface, but ive recently swtiched to hardware so i gotta get used to this workflow.

FL Studio...If you have FL Studio 7 or 8 you dont need any other softwares.Mark sample in edison, drag marked sample to fruity slicer.Add pitch, time stretching and play :)

I just signed up and yall goona be hearin lots from me, on the real note i been f*ckin with FL for sometime now , personally i can rock the **** outta it with samples, I've tried reason that acidpro **** and some cubeix or sum **** but none of em felt close enought to fruity loops feel...ya feel me? lol so hand down FL all day! Peace! -Its A Thrilla!-

Oranges. without a doubt.

If you have Reason+Recycle I'd recommend stepping up and learning it. If all you've got is FL, then by all means keep doing what you're doing.

FL Studio with Adobe Audition has a much quicker and less complicated process for sampling than Reason with Recycle together do, but that doesn't mean it's BETTER, it's just easier in FL in my opinion. It all depends on preference.

I own both FLStudio and Reason. In reason, I have to use some other software to chop my samples up and then load them into the NN-XT or ReDrum (for drums). In FLStudio i can just drag and drop into the Edison and drag my selections into Direct Wave. Or I can use Slicex, which is like if Edison and Direct Wave had a baby. I don't even. have Audition/Cool Edit Installed anymore.

Much easier than Reason/Recycle/Audition, and using less system resources. But Reason has Thor synth... But FL Studio can load Native Instrument VST's.... And I can make a beat with the Mouse+Keyboard in FL if I don't have time/space to hook up my Keyboard. I tried to do the same in reason and reason told me to forget about it.

I choose FL Studio. As powerful as everything else and your not required to use hardware/additional software. True DAW.

Ableton Live

Is by the far the best program for sampling now. The sample midi instrument is probably the most crucial. You can send splits of audio to certain keys which def can fill some **** up in your flips/chops/cuts...

Ableton Live. **** Fruity Loops.

i would have to say fruityloops is better for sampling, but i think the sequencer in fruityloops is crap compared to reason. but overall fruityloops...

reason users why use two programs to sample when you can use 1??? FL ALL DAY OUT HERE. BTW I havent spent the time to learn to use Slicex with is an incopprperated recycle like program b/c theres already so many other viable options for sampling in FL.

fl studio if you know what your doin...it works so well sometimes that I will sample into FL and flip before I lay it out on my MPC
