Hi I'm looking for a bit of advice...has anyone any hands on knowledge about the new vestax pdx's...I was thinking of the PDX 2300 MK2 [non-pro] ...do you think the pro version with the curved arm would be good/worth the extra dough...

this is actually my first set of direct drives...I've been mixing on some 50th user clapped out omnitronic beltdrives for the past few years...though i have used the new technics MK5's and i really liked them...

but actually one of the[of none other] great things about the omnitronics is that if you hit the 33 and 45 at the same time you get a speed somewhere inbetween...i actually use this quite alot so I think i'd miss that extra range if I got the technics...

the only thing i've been slightly sceptical of about geting the 2300's is that I might become too dependent/comfortable with the pitch range and the digital pitch readout, especially since i am at still an early enough stage with mixing...though i'm reasonably comfortable with beat matching its still taking me a minute to match something up reasonably well...I'm waffling on here sorry em
thanks for any advice
I'd really appreciate it...

The 2300MK2 is way too overpriced. I wouldn't recommend you buying that.

What do you mix/spin? How much money are you willing to spend?

At the moment mainly techno/electro/electronica, but I want to start getting into some scratching, which has been impossible with the decks i have besides there being no torque , they just wont hold the record groove for even a gentle rock...

I have found the [pdx 2300 mk2 pro's] for 569 euro which is about the same price as the technics mk5's

though the normal [pdx2300 MK2] i think i've found for 479 though it might be a misprint

I've also found the old original 2000's for 379 which is preaty reasonable

thanks btw

Hmm.. Do you really need the longer tonearm and digital display? If I were you I would go go for the PDX2000 becuase it is the cheapest and has everything you need for scratching/mixing and overall a great deck.

I am pretty sure i'm going to be sticking with mixing for some time even if only parrelel or peripheral to other things..that said a nice setup i think will entice me in further so i'm willing to spend the 569 euro [at a strech] for the vestax or technics if its worth it...

So do you think Its not worth paying extra for the MK2 even for the 2000 mk2?

I think that´s a very good advice -
if you don´t like technics or you need more than 8% pitch, go for the pdx2000 as it is quite cheap know

or have a look at the numark ttx

imo the mk2ßs and pro version are overpriced at the moment, but if you like vestax...
