The very concept of a 'producer placement' is on its way out with the FAILURE of the CD album format (nearly a 45% decline from 4 years ago) so what you have is producer's having no choice but to look BEYOND the major label system to help establish and maintain their brand utilizing the Internet. Do people really understand what this music business is about in 2009 because if you don't first get your knoweldge game up before you question anything. The very concept of a major label A&R means very little in a day where creative development is non existent. The game is moving on, the online platforms that provide the highest quality of music for the buying community will run the business.

awesome post...

Wow this got ugly. This wasn't my intention at all. I'm not gonna go back and quote ppl, just kinda go off memory...

Troup, you got no manners. I like some of your advice. I like some your music. As a person, I don't like you. You need help.

Ave, I didn't make it up. I saw it on a live stream and I shared it here.

Legal, you write articles for PMP right? I understand it's in your interest to protect them, but let's be real, PMP can be a good tool for some, but it's got some serious flaws.

I forget if there's anyone else I need to respond to, if I skipped u over lemme know.

I posted this thread for ppl to understand how ONE A&R views the track dump. That's it. Let's keep it movin.

They should have never gave this nicca a computer....
Spend more time with the Asian chick and less time stir up the POT!!!!!

LMFAO!!!

Like I and many have said before, PMP is providing service that is already free. They have brainwashed, spammed forums and finally got some assholes to sign up. They gave some credible producers like Swizz Beats etc free memberships to help suck in the crowd, probably even paid a few. If you guys to silly to see the forest from the trees then that's you. I keep hearing tool, tool, tool. When I use a screwdriver, it works when I twist that mofo, get the drift. Damn, CalmAss, you comparing PMP to Universitys fees now, this is rediculous.

lol sounds like you wanna join the club but dont wanna pay your dues.... thts to bad because its worth it

Legal, you work for PMPYou ain't gonna hurt your pockets to tell the truth noways. So all you guys high fiving this guy are beyond educated meaning dumb.

No. I said if you think something is robbery because most people that pay for it don't find much use in it even though some find a lot of use for it, then you might as well call universities a robbery because not all pass or come out of it with a "useful" qualification.

F*ck it! I give up with this guy.

It's like arguing with a teenage girl that has a grudge against you on her period.

Common sense goes out the window.

Bruh, you work for slipnslide, lol. That a helluva a promotion right there. Of course, you label being major, is gonna get more hits that the amatuers, lol. You should of registered under you real name and disclosed nothing, I wonder where would you stand on PMP. Ever thought about that.

Stop it, your making yourself look like an uniformed hater at best. You went from saying the site has 30,000 members and now they're brainwashing people lol. All this speculation about what they might be doing and not doing makes no sense, the fact is many of the top producers utilize the PMP and NOBODY's like yourself dont. I guess we should follow the advice of the nobody and ignore the people like Trap Camp that are actually doing something with their career right?Didnt the Trap Camp producers just post how its been working great for them? Didnt we read about the Green Team producers saying the PMP helps them on this forum? So what is your problem besides being a blatant hater?

Here's quote off the site from Mike Caren, VP A&R Atlantic Records:

"First of all I love the PMP and I use it quite extensively. I have purchased tracks from producers I've found on the site and have forged relationships with a few of them."

Here's one from Chris Styles of Dangerous LLC:

"the whole Dangerous LLC is out there staying relevant so shout to Wild Urkill for putting me up on the PMP and its ill because I just got 2 records sold because of him putting us up on the PMP so that's what's up!"

Come again with more illogical hate please, this is fun...

Green Team and the majority of succesful cats on PMP already had a following before even joining, LOL. I remember Team Green from wayyyy back. You can't take credit for putting these guys on they were already there. Lastly, I out of this thread. Good luck with the "Star Wars". May "piece" be with you.

You cool Wizard ... but now you talking Non sense....LOL

Legal is that dude.....

Me and him and several other producers agree on a lot of things.
And not everyone owns a PMP account.

Legal performs a great service by dropping line in here.....

Let me drop some science to all. PMP is cool but I don't think it's worth paying $50 a month and not get your tracks placed. The info is nice on there, I go there to look at the info and see what Bernie the Attorney has to say along with other industry buzz.

I was taught "NEVER PAY MONEY TO GET YOUR TRACKS HEARD".

If you want to get your tracks heard, here are some ways.

1. Do the leg work, make sure your tracks are hot and network around top executives not some lame street wanna be rapper cat.
2. Make sure your beats are tight and you know how to make music, have your own studio, and get very aquainted with a publisher who can push your music to various places, via, movies, albums, games, etc!
3. Get a manager whether it's a personal manager who will do the leg work for you, or get an attorney to work as a service, meaning if you're going to pay might as well pay the attorney. Just don't get any attorney, check out their record and see who they are doing business for.

I myself got in through publishing, so I am doing well and one can do it too. Don't just concentrate on albums, there are movies, high and low budget movies that you can get some dough from. Games, albums, ringtones, internet service etc. These engines are making money off your hopes, it's like Reverend Ike who makes his money off poor Church goers because they seek the hopes of paradise, through this man. It's a scheme to make dough. I don't knock their hustle but at the same time you guys need to know the science behind what you are doing.

Also, learn how to do more than just produce, this is the age where if you're doing music wear a couple of hats, like if you produce you should know how to mix that way if someone came to you for a beat and bought it you could offer them mixing fees that would be less than the other engineer, but be good at what you do though. Learn how to mix audio with video, how to edit and so forth. Be swift with a computer, know the ins and outs of a computer be it Mac and Pc I know them both so I am good on solving problems. What I am saying is the more useful you are the more people are going to want and need you to be around.

Peace

solid post too...

THIS THREAD IS ON FIRE!!!

You're WRONG AGAIN (for the 30th time in this thread), I do NOT work for the PMP, I do contribute an occasional editorial essay the same way I contribute my 2 cents in this message board so try again sir. Anything else you want to be wrong about today??

Everybody getting a piece of the pie. LOL. That's how crooks works. It's called marketing, you know, getting the higher ups to make a statement for you product, you know, ala Tiger Woods and nike or Queen Latifah and CoverGirl. Get outta here.

You see people, a guy like Legal Dollarz post here on websites that are geared toward uneducated, business wise newcomers into the music industry. These people don't go to websites like Gearslutz where the big wigs post. They can fool you with that crap but I and many other know better. If you have only 1000 members, then that means your business ultimately failed you ain't making no "dollaz" ya dig considering all the hands in the pot.

I guess I should ask what exactly is your understanding of
the service that the PMP provides? Because maybe that's our disconnect, is that you don't understand what exactly the PMP does.

Good night Troup.

People's minds are still stuck in this little "placement" box. They don't want to see that there are about 300 "placement" opportunities per year for hip hop and r&b. Cuz let's face it, there are only about 15 - 20 hip hop and r&b CDs that are being released by major labels every year.

there is too much game in here...

IGNORANCE FATALITY!! FLAWLESS VICTORY!!!

Lol. You're impossible dude. You must be all of 16 years old, still living at home. That would explain your "everything should be given to me" attitude.

Good luck in life.

IndustrySound.com is coming in about a week.
