That ticking kick

Hi, newbie producer here in need of help. Please don't laugh at my request :)

I have this particular sound, errr, kick line I want to reproduce. You've all probably heard it thousand times and know how to do it, but I don't.

You can hear it in the track: N'to - Trauma (Worakls Remix)

It's that underlining layer of fast kicks.Being untrained I can only describe it as resembling the sound of metronome :o It's used in loads of tracks and really adds a lot to the sound.

YOu can hear it solo at around 1:59 for a second.

Yup, I know how this sounds, but there really isn't a better way for me to ask this. How can I reproduce that sound? I downloaded loads of beats and samples, nothing ever came close to it. I dont even know what to Google for.
 
all i heard was congo drums at 159 then the lowcut kick drum showed up.
sounds like a filtered physical model drum from kong or drumaxx
 
Just a guess:


Take some congo/bongo/whatever samples and kill the tail of them.
I would try this by compressing it to death, then increasing the attacktime until you only have the hit left.
Then lowpass it.
The samples could also have been pitched down.


Not sure, but hope it helps.
 
it is a standard conga/bongo line using slap, mute and palm hits on two drums

look up conga playing, find the appropriate samples and begin to duplicate some of the examples until you find the sounds that work for you

I could transcribe this but am still getting over a bad stomach virus (projectile vomiting for a day and still several days before it will be better); maybe on friday if I get time
