A "boxy" sound tends to fall between 400Hz and 600Hz, you could try killing it by EQing it out

Exactly. Nothing at all wrong with that booth. Dead vocals are easier to minupalte with fx and dynamics processing. Eq the boxiness out and you'll be fine. Don't be scared to make sweeping cuts either. I'd cut everything from 450 to 800Hz up to 7-10db.
