So I have a bit if a problem here. I have 2 bookshelf speaker setup. One on the right and left of me .

My laptop is connected to an amp via an RCA cable. The speakers are connected to the amp via copper speaker wires. 2 wires that go to the left and the right speaker respectively .

So does that mean I have a stereo setup ?

Problem is here

When I'm doing the test and I click the left one, nothing plays but when I click the right, both speakers play

The end that goes to the computer in my hand and the red and black ends in the amp

Back of my amplifier, each red and black pair goes to a respective speaker

that is your problem - your cable is a mono 1/8" (TS) to stereo RCA splitter cable: you need to get a proper stereo cable (TRS to Stereo RCA)

...and just in case you didn't notice the difference, there are two black bands on a stereo plug; one in a mono one.
