Yow Terelle...
you make a good point on di whole latino ting...however..I'm not di one who said dat Puerto Ricans "invented" anything..dat was something I was clarifying..my post was in reply to the article in the link..and it is to sate dat neither Panamanians nor Puerto Ricans invented what they call "reggaeton" or "spanish reggae"..I even explained where these riddims came from...although reggaeton nowadays is mostly just techno melodies with the same bassline/drum pattern..when they first started out..they used the exact same riddims as the ones inna Jamaica...so basically what they call spanish reggae (Dem Bow Riddim, Poco Man Jam Riddim, Duck Riddim) and a whole heap a other riddims, came from Jamaica zeen?...as far as di whole "latino" term for the Puerto Ricans...yes they are latinos...geographically they are located in the central west indies...they are hispanics as far as the language...funny thing is...they have no similarities between dem and central/south americans except for the language..and even dat sounds a lil different..u can't compare an island inna di caribbean with Mexico just because both lands speak spanish..also...according to CNN.."Puerto Rican" is not considered a race, because even tho the majority of di population of di island is "mulato"..basically tan...there are also whites and blacks...and believe it or not a smaller population of Asians, Indian, English and from other countries...and eventually they all mix in with the rest a dem...forming people dat look nothing alike, its a mix I guess..not a race...not to mention di amount of people living deh from other islands...so call dem whatever u want...the purpose of my reply to the topic wasn't to talk about the nationality as much as di music..alright..now a last comment on di whole "I won't play any dancehall around latinos cause they will claim its there's"..ok check my opinion on ur comment..in a sense its true..alot of times they believe its they own..as I mentioned dat both Panama and Puerto Rico believe dat dey invented dis or invented dat..I know di truth behind di roots of reggae and dancehall bredrin..trust me...I have nuff links..I know King Jammy and ting...however it's not they fault..they are misinformed because dem selecta/dj/promoter in hispanic countries dont tell di crowd where dey took di riddims from..and di first versions of these riddims they hear is in spanish...now let me tell you...artists in Panama loooove splicing from di Jamaican DJ dem..especially artists like Principal, Jr Ranks, Kafu Banton, Renato and practically all they talent copy di Jamaicans 100% a di time...in dem cd's they splice every single new riddim dat come out..in my opinion I think dem a whole heap a Jamaican wannabes..Panamanians need to get over di fact dat dey are not..ok..bla bla bla..wid di building of di panama canal..it brought many west indian immigrants to work deh...big deal...USA has many west indian immigrants...dat dont make us Jamaican zeen?..I gwaan speak on behalf of di Yawdies right now: "stop posin off a we!!" lol...tekkin di kulcha and claimin it as your own..yush! anyway...terelle..prob I helped you understand a few tingz..any questions..just link back..~bless~
