Southern Rappers > Northern Rappers. Yeah, I said it.

I've always found that a track with a bumping ass 808 and snare rolls beats a track with samples and a guy trying to be lyrical but sounds like a idiot.
You obviously just like simple party/slang music then or if not
you like simple lyrics/bars like "Im so bright call me the sun" and
etc simple lines southern artists think are super bars.

I spit circles round squares cause they outta shape /
triangle face at ya frame till ya body break /
walk into the house of pain bullets will accomodate /
vice grip grab muthaf**ka you will not escape /
like malcom x at blockbuster rentin nazi tapes / itll never happen
That alone can top 75% of southern artists bars apart from
the usual T.I, Andre 3000, Luda who trascend simple sourthen.

My only issue with the South is the number of dudes who don't even care what they put out. Your name is attached to it so you should give some type of effort. What happens if you don't sell a million copies initially and your album sounds like you didn't care ? Now there are rappers up here that are like that but the ratio isn't as bad as the South's.

i kinda agree... east coast cats aint nothin but punchline rappers now... at least cats down south makin music... west coast isnt even in the equation...

Punchlines at least give a track substance, replay value in my
opinion ... Southern artist bars/lines are kiddy simplistic color
by number easy with no thought to them ... "Im cold like the
winter call me jack frost" lol ... Besides the beat/hook no replay
and mostly the dope beat holds the track together.

Jeezy & T.I is about as down south as I get and I listen to them
regularly in the mix.

Just my opinion ... Im out this thread before it goes to mayhem lol

That's because for most south fans, all you have to be is out and they will buy your ****. No quality control, no one wants to be called a hater, so they like everything.

Even Young Ralph.

They act like Mikey, they'll buy anything.

I'd prefer not listening to jeezy at all. Love some southern rappers like Andre 3000 TI and Scarface and some eastcoast rappers like Gza Rza and Az don't appeal to me

O boy, do I just love it how you say "most south fans", like you know most of em and you're almost to the point where you're speaking for the south. You're very funny also. You should be a comedian.

i just bump what i bump, i bump gucci, i bump buddens

leave it at that

**** the region argument b/c that's stupid. Every Coast has great rappers, good rappers, & bad rappers. Every coast has it's legends. It just so happens that right now sadly for the most part the dopest mc's aren't winning....smh.

Not callin u stupid, but this thread is...and if ur stupid enough to pick a side and say we can't rap down south then fu(k u too!! it doesn't matter...u think having skills is restricted to region? Or was gettin a major record deal and being heard by the masses restricted to a region? Exactly, before major deals came to the south, u had Mystikal, Mjg, and Bun-B reppin' lyrically...I grew up on east coast rap, even Bun states the same...and if u don't feel any music from the east coast and u from the south, then u missin out!! St8 up!! I was listening to my massive cassette collection last week, which is mostly east coast, and don't regret the investment @ all...niggaz can rap all over...even overseas!!

This thread was flame bait...and you guppie ninjas took the bait...grow up! Who cares who's the best? Besides anyway who compares a drum pattern to a verse is a flucking smidiot anyway...end this topic because it'll just be circular reasoning over and over and over...**echos**

I find this thread hilarious..... I'd NEVER be caught with bubble gum or better yet cookie cutter type artist's albums. In my opinion, they fu*ked up the game for niggas that actually put in real effort and niggas got the nerve to still call it Hip-Hop. It's really hip pop and I can't wait until niggas put out some real sh*t to make all that other sh*t die down. Anyway, what's up AntNY, As20gp, DJ Nice, and Xabiton.
Peace

word. You don't have to be a fan of an entire coast to be a fan of a rapper.

the thread didnt say anything about choosing sides...

the south is clearly putting out better albums right now... besides nas jay and joey who does the east really have besides a bunch of corny battle/punchline rappers? and shiiiit the midwest goin strong as well... kanye, lupe, common...

i listen to everthing cept post pac west coast music pretty much... theres good and bad but its just funny to me when a person can b a good rapper but a terrible artist... the terrible artists from the south are terrible rappers too...

to me its like the east coast dudes is SOOOO worried about punchlines that they forget to include content... i dont really care how many different ways u can shoot a nigga... i like listenin to **** i can relate to... thats why people like eminem aint in my top 5... he's probably the most talented rapper ever but the product just doesnt add up... nobody wants to hear fictional music... thats what movies are for...

lol nobody wants to hear fictional music?

man you gonna be in for a shocker..

Didn't you know, every south rapper was a dope boy and all of them came from the streets and all of that.

If a south rapper say he shot 15 niggas in the first verse, you better believe he did that.

They always keep it real.

Like Lil Wayne he says "I am like Lego's, you are like Eggo's."

That's real ish right there^

SMH

Lil Wayne also says his interior is like a white person with blue veins, and he'll kick it like liu kang

That being said..Weezy was mentioned so..

Haha^^

Yeah if you listen to rap music and take everything you hear as 100% factual you are sadly misguided. I dont believe 95% of what these rappers say and really it doesnt bother me to think there lying. Music can be looked at like movies, for entertainment purposes, not an auto-biography.

And to the person who said he doesnt listen to post pac west coast you are missing out my friend. If anyone has their game rights its the underground west coast; Blu <--Soon to be G.O.A.T, Murs, Flying Lotus, Blackaliscious, Jurassic 5, Emanon <-- Who I admitly have been sleeping on but just checked out last week and their DOPE, The Brekfast Club Crew. Plus theres others....But now that I think about it I havent really checked out any new new york artists lately or atleast that I know of...
