Troup/Rome, ya'll married? If so, how do you balance family responsibility with music responsibility. It seems like in today's day and age, time is currency and there's never enough for everything.

I'm not. Not married, no kids.

your insight is so nasty i can't even be mad at you mayne...that would be like crucifyin' jesus and shit...
:smokinFP:

... and there's not much we can do about a lot of it except do the best we can.

... there's not much new going down except it's easier to be sneaky now-a-days. There are entire websites where women huddle and swap stories. My wife was on one lipstickalley.com (some FP members DUDES! were members on there too! lol...)

... they share tricks and secrets like filling up super soakers with bleach, gas and other ish to spray down your car to ruin your paint job if you get caught cheating.

I thought their tactic of taking a wire brush and shining up a dudes rims was a bit overkill. I'm glad she got off of that site.

Oh and make sure you're cool with her girlfriends, lol. It helps. You need somebody to come to your defense if you're not around and getting talked down on. If they aren't 100% that you're the one, her girlfriends will be the jury. Happened to me. Hell, I asked my wife to dance when I first met her and she looked at her girlfriends... they gave a nod of approval and THEN she danced. F'd up.

daamn a wire brush hell naw. also lol at fp dudes being on there

The way I used to do it was to get her to tie up as much time with her friends as possible... so I could do music. Her friends all liked me so I knew they weren't taking her out to do nothing crazy."

Now... psst. I have 300 skeleton beats that I never get a chance to finish, lol.

Don't let your woman subscribe to NetFlix or your music endeavors are over. You're always going to be called on to watch a movie and you can only put it on hold so many times before the neglect feeling creeps in on her.

... and if your woman doesn't have a hobby of her own, it's a wrap !

The laptop and headphones thing won't fly... the man-cave studio... won't fly... set up in the master bedroom won't fly...

and if you have kids, the time your woman doesn't want - the kids will.

Unless you're a selfish person... you won't really find a lot of time to do music and to keep everybody happy. Pretty much you'll do music for a long time and they'll get used to it and then you'll stop and say "Hey everybody I'm done with music!!!" and they'll say in their heads "Who gives a ish, we found other stuff to do" and "family time" won't be as much to 'em... or her if you're single.

If the shoe were on the other foot... what would you do? Really... if she made music and had on headphones or was in a separate room... what would you do if she just kept saying "I'm almost done..." and the music seemed more fun to her than spending time with you... you'd eventually get tired of it and when she stopped it wouldn't seem like a big deal and sort of fake.

Eh... I guess my way to deal with it is... just trying to do what I can. If she's watching girly shows, I'm out. Thanks to Top Model, Next Chef, What Not to wear and all that... I get to make music in spurts, lol.

One of 'em had the same name as his FP name... some of 'em were promoting music because a lot of singers and ish be on there I guess. One platinum selling artist was reading it on a reality TV... and crying about what the people were saying.

Crazy part is that they were giving more feedback on the music than FP members, lol. Pages of paragraphs and ish. The music was mostly RnB... I wouldn't trust their opinions on Hip Hop ish... you might get clowned for not having "Nelly" beats or something.

Wire brush on the rims should've been edited by a mod on that site.

Yeah, music can't leave... she can...

Then you'll have all the free time in the world to do music, lol.

It's up to the person.

Just got five exclusive beats sold on an indie album today. PMP is where its at.

Good lord Rome is on target about the studio move.
My girl was good for that whiney crap all day

"spend time with meeeee......."
"notice meeeeeeeeeeeeee......"

but when Real housewives of atlanta came on or her sister from Agusta called i could have been on fire and she wouldn't notice.

it got so bad we had to workout a deal,
i don't open the studio until 6pm (right when all her stupid shows come on). now the new problem is she goes to bed around 10 and the new call is
"come to bed with meeeeee..........."

not enough damn hours in the day.

very, very true...

"opportunities" are abundant.

they were giving more feedback on the music than FP members

maybe...but who has the more valuable opinion? people WITH substantial hands on experperience? or people WITHOUT substantial hands on experience?

you could also look at it as them being more realistic on a non-producer site, as far as being closer to a casual listener that's not analyzing every aspect of the production as a producer in their own right

If your trying to sell music the person with the most valuable opinion is the one who is buying it. Usually your not trying to sell music to producers (or people with hands on experience) whether they buy it or not is up to them and most casual listeners don't have hands on experience. They just know what they like and what they don't most of the time.

But if 10 people who are casual listeners say a song is hot and if it was on Itunes they would buy it vs 10 producers who say the song is too repeative not enough change ups, the snare needs to be turned down 5 decables, too much highs on the strings, the high hats are too quantized and need to be panned more towards the center, ect
then its easy to tell who has the most valuable opinion if your trying to sell your music.

and thus ARGUABLY rendering their feedback useless...
In a technical stand point perhaps although most people do have a sense of rhythm and a ear for melodies meaning if you play something extremely out of key it wont sound good to them or if a sound is extremely loud or repetitive they might say for example that one sound is annoying. Average listeners are not completely clueless lol but as far as stuff like adding more reverb to a sound or compressing basically more technical stuff yeah they could not give you feedback on that.

They WOULD however give you the BEST feedback if something is hot or not as they are the ones who are buying, dancing, and singing the lyrics to your song.

Imagine if soulja boy gave crank that to a bunch of producers to critic he probably would be embarrassed to release it after the feedback and would have missed out on a hit record instead of just having it play in the club seeing how the average listener reacts to it seeing them dance and recite the lyrics to the song. They don't care that the 808 is distorting over the beat or all that other technical bs. They just like the song.

Now I'm not saying that feedback from producers, engineers, ect isnt important because it is and often will make the average listener enjoy the song more without really noticing. But if your trying to sell music you should be making music with the average listener in mind not producers. Producers tend to get too technical instead of just enjoying the music for what it is.

Hell you can have a perfect mix on a song all the levels are good a whole bunch of transitions ect and lets say those 10 producers like it but the 10 average listeners ain't feeling it and don't want to buy it then who's feedback is more valuable? If your trying to sell your music then its back to the drawing board for you.

producer = hook up your car
average listener = person on the street that says nice car and wants to buy it off of you

"Let's get together today, he won't know"

yeah man...the whole "he won't / she won't know" factor can be a devastator...

Basically. Rome, the site misses your knowledge lol. Whoever is agreeing with these points here knows what they're talking about.

You could listen to FELLOW (wait for it) producers... LIKE YOURSELF (wait for it)... all your life and as a result never release anything ever... or you can learn the technical points from (yes) FELLOW producers (repeat, see above), take SOME (*keyword) advice and critique from them, KEEP IT MOVING (*key term), and pay good attention AS WELL (*key term) to the people that will potentially be your FANS (*very important key word) and BUYING your sh*...

As far as women are concerned, hah. I'm laughing at alotta yall, even though most of what was said was truth. The truth goes deeper than that, however, and I don't even know where to begin.

For starters, keeping BALANCE (*yeah) in mind (with added emphasis on MODERATION)...

... THE LESS YOU CARE, THE MORE SHE WILL.

That's like rule number one to game. Tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, I dare you. Works every time. (*IF YOU KNOW HOW TO DO IT.)
