A&R Scoe, Conrad, Riggs, and Lenny are Scamming people.
Have anybody been scammed by Anthony "Scoe" Walker, Conrad Dimanche, Riggs Morales, and Lenny S before? Has anybody received messages from Anthony "Scoe" Walker since early of 2009 till now? And has anybody contacted Conrad Dimanche from this email address "cdimanche@tmo.blackberry.net?" Please be very very aware of these A&Rs because they all are scammers in the loose wanting your money.
Anthony "Scoe" Walker who was once an A&R for Def Jam records, Lenny S who was once an A&R for Def Jam/Roc-a-Fella, Conrad Dimanche who was once an A&R for Bad Boy, and Riggs Morales who was once an A&R for Shady Records does not work for their Record Company any more. I did a lot of research/background check on all of these guys and every single one of them are currently unemployed since 2009. Jay Z, Eminiem, P Diddy, etc etc... are the ones that signing artist for their label, they don't got an A&R rep working for them at the momment. Not anymore!
Most of these unemployed A&Rs are freelance A&Rs in their spare time.
Most of the freelance A&Rs/scam artists are usually individuals who at one time worked for a major label, but have now either had their position eliminated or have been laid off. Major labels have been aggressively trimming that workforce for years now. At any rate, just because they have connections doesn't mean they will get you a recording contract and just because they onced worked for a major label does not mean that they are legitimate now. Always keep this in mind, when you interact with A&Rs online, they do a lot of name dropping in order to impress you with how connected they are.
These freelance A&Rs/scam artists do not have the power to sign any artist a recording contract because they do not work as an A&R for their recording company any more. Usually freelance A&R's would come up with ways to make fast money just to manipulate unsigned artists for their money. They would set up websites for freelance A&Rs/scam artists like A&R Live Hookup, A&R Select, A&R Unlimited, Themusicblast, Musicxray, majormusiccontact and plenty more of those sites that charges inspiring artist to get their music listened/reviewed. They would set up their own management company, their own A&R consultant company, and their own wesite for beats submissions or etc etc.
They will tell you lies about the music bussiness so you will believe that you have to do this and that to make it! Sometimes they don't have to tell you **** and they just keep it moving. When an A&R do bussiness with people, the artist should never ever pay up front and they should never ever pay to get their music heard. If an A&R loves your music and believes in you as an artist, they will sign you right off the bat. The label will invest their time and their money on a artist.
By the way, the only sites that is legit are Taxi, CD Baby, and Ariel Publicity.
LET ME TELL YOU WHAT PRO-A&R REPS DO ON A DAILY BASIS.
New A&Rs for new recording companies are looking to sign new artist every year. Any A&R knows that they can't signed an artist without getting permission from the head C.E.O. first. When a artist gets signed, they end up on their artist roster list. It's very hard to keep an A&R's attention for the simple fact that they have to do everything at once. They have to take all the responsibitity for all their artists music that they've signed. This includes helping the artist to find the right record producer, scheduling time in a recording studio and advising the artist on all aspects of making a high quality recording. They work with the artist to choose the best songs to record. For artists who do not write their own music, they will assist in finding songs and songwriters. A&R executives maintain contact with their counterparts at music publishing companies to get new songs and material from songwriters and producers.
A&Rs tend to be very busy people, so they can't be looking for new artist everyday unless they receive demos from agents, lawyers, managers, or friends/people that they know of because they are not allowed to receive unsolicited material. Some A&Rs/record labels do accept solicited material, but most of them don't, because they fear that the artist might sue them for using their songs/beats without permission or whatever the case may be. These things have happened in the past and that is why most of them stop receiving solicited material.
Record companies uses their profit/investment money to produce, release, and promote an album. Recording time, manufacturing, packaging, photos, distribution, marketing, and music videos are just some of the areas where the label must spend money on an act it has signed. The label usually absorbs these expenses, but in some artists contracts, some of this money may be due back to the label, unless otherwise worded. Advances (upfront money that is paid directly to a recording artist) are normally always owed back to the label. Once (and if) the advance has been paid back from record sales, the artist then begans to see royalty payments for additional sales. Advancing an act money is a risk the label endures as it does not know how well the act's album will sell.
With today's Record label companies, record labels are struggling financially because of album sells are not generating enough money no more to survive, so the artist have to generate more money from doing shows/touring. New forms of digital distribution have changed the relationship between consumers and the music they choose. In the wake of declining record sales, a large number of A&R staffers have been terminated.
NOW THAT YOU KNOW HOW THE BUSSINESS WORKS, AND NOW THAT YOU KNOW WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON INTO TODAY'S MUSIC INDUSTRY, I HOPE YOU LEARN A LOT FROM THIS. THE FUTURE OF THE MUSIC BUSSINESS HAS CHANGE. PRETTY SOON A&RS WILL NO LONGER EXIST TO THE MUSIC BUSSINESS. VERY SOON LABELS WILL BE DOING EVERYTHING DIGITALLY. THAT MEANS ANY ARTIST WHO WANTS TO GET SIGNED WITH A RECORDING CONTRACT HAS TO SELL OVER 100,000 DIGITAL SELLS FROM ITUNES, TUNECORE OR ANY OF THOSE DIGTIAL DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES ONLINE. TO PREVENT YOU FROM GETTING RIPPED OFF, YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR MUSIC LICENCED TO BMI, OR ASCAP.
Now let me tell you about con artist-A&R scammers. There are plenty of sleazy individuals and business entities that have been observing the decline of the traditional recording industry. They have noticed all the new artists cropping up, looking for fame and fortune. They smile when they see the common portrayal of artists on MTV and VH1 as rich, living extravagant and glamorous lifestyles, getting huge "record deals", and so on – even though that image is extremely distorted. All of this has created a prime market for services and products targeted towards musicians who want to make it big, and unfortunately for us, the majority of these are scams. You heard of Anthony "Scoe" Walker right? He's the one that use to send thousands of messages/comments to artist from social networking sites like Myspace, etc etc. If you look up his full name on Google, you will see that many people questioned if Scoe is a scammer. Every one of them have received similar/same messages from him. The first thing you need to pay attention to is how the email is written. Are they only speaking about your music in general terms? Are they not referencing specific songs, or if they are, are they being so vague that they could really be describing any song? These should all send up red flags. Real professionals that like your music would want to ask you for your number to speak to you through the phone and would want to ask for your house address to come see you in person. If you find other artists or musicians receiving the same messages you did. That means that whoever is contacting you just wants your money, and doesn’t care about your music. If you suspect something is up, be cold and ruthless when you email or call up the company. Demand to be told all the facts. Grill the "talent scout" on why YOUR music was picked. Honest businesses can stand up to the pressure because they have nothing to hide – scam companies will falter, fumble, become overly defensive, and give wishy washy answers. Conrad Dimanche who was an A&R for Bad Boy is also in this with Scoe since he's the one who started PMP worldwide. Two months ago he posted up a video about "THE FIRM A&R CONSULTING SERVICES." He put out his information so artist can reach him about their music. When you contact Conrad, he will tell you this "What's up, so what I do is set up meetings for artist with good music. The meetings are with heads of A&R at major labels, I get the meetings by giving the label my personal cosign of the artist or producer. I charge 1200 per meeting and would need to screen the music as I have to protect my reputation, if you are interested I can send you my gmail address to get the ball rolling. I also provide a one page agreement guaranteeing the meeting." My concern is, if they love your music so much, than why the **** would they ask you to pay a fee of 200/500 or 1000 something dollars just to be on their artist consultanting services? Why would they invite/approve 80 to 100 inspiring artist to this??? And why do an artist have to pay a fee just to be at a meeting with the majors? Sounds fishy right? First of all, if you not the only one that's there, than there is no way you would get their attention. Second of all, these freelance A&R scammers don't promise you/everyone a recording contract, but they would do what they say they would do. Third of all, if they choose you and you get a recording contract, you have to prepare yourself first. You need to hirer a Lawyer to check out the contract to see if its legit or not. If you can spend thousands of dollars on fees, than you can spend anywhere from $50 an hour to a $1,000 an hour or more to hirer yourself a Lawyer.
So now that you are aware of the pros and cons of the music bussiness, I hope you make the right decisions for you and your career.
Anyone who signed up to PMP worldwide, Temp Music Management, Talent Scout Connect, or whatever site that's associated to them, it's all a RIP OFF! Please delete your accounts as soon as possible. Thank you for reading and I wish all of you well. Also, please do your research and please learn about the music bussiness before you do bussiness with anybody.
