so who on this site has gotten placements through PMP so far?

Sounds like AZ is a fan of futureproducers.com. He subscribed to me as well.

Its also very easy to shoot straight for the big names on track dump and ignoring the lesser know people looking for tracks. You have to remember that the more well known the artisit the higher the caliber expected and the slimmer the chances of getting the placement. Im not saying not to go for it, just remember that your still competing with alot of talented people for a few spots available on an album.

Good info, bro.

PMP will prove to be a classic case of the free market in action. If you starve on there, then you deserve to starve. People don't want what you have. Even if your stuff may be "better," if it's not what they need/want, then you are SOL.

That's not AZ the rapper.

Launched this past January, PMP Worldwide was co-founded by Web consultants Ainsley "AZ" Nicholas, 34 and Anthony Marchante 37, who looked to create an online space where beatmakers could sell their creations. Bad Boy A&R exec Conrad Dimanche, 35, later became a partner to the site. To seperate the professionals from the wannabes, producers pay a monthly $50 fee to build a Web page where they can showcase and promote their tracks.

Good advice on flooding track dumps, it makes you look really desperate and amateurish...

... that's just my opinion.

Had an offer from an indie label.. Never went through. Only registered for about a month, been subscribed from RAD at Bad Boy. But i have high hopes for this website, its very marketable.

Does anybody else feel its annoying that you have to create a buyer account to listen to other peoples beats? When your already registered as a producer and paying a fee..

just go to their myspace page, that's what I did when I wanted to see what I was up against.

Now I just click on that player on the front page to listen to 2 or 3 songs... then I click view producer if I like the songs.

PMP is NOT for feedback. You aren't gonna get people saying "your track is nice, butyou shoulda done this." You're only gonna get subscribers if they are feeling what you do, and feel like your music would serve their needs sometime in the future, and you're only gonna get hit up for music if someone is taking your track to their artist, or wants to buy something.

PMP is NOT track reviews. It's not there for you to get "feedback". If you're at the level where you need "feedback" on your tracks, then PMP is not the place for you. Like Rome said, you're dealing with the REAL INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS on PMP. They don't need feeback. They just need a check.

Also, someone said that they were curious as to what other producers were doing on PMP. I'll be the first to set that off...

1) Rad sent me a message saying he was taking one of my tracks to Yung Joc for his first single off his summer album. He said Joc liked it, but didn't LOVE it. They are looking for something bigger than It's Going Down. He also told me to keep that fire coming!

2) Had an offer from some indie dude down in australia to buy a track and a hook for 1k, exclusive. I turned him down.

3) Got a message from AZ (read the XXL PMP Article) that said my Nightmare track was hot, and that they play it all the time in the office.

4) Here is my subscription list....

05/21/2007 3rd Coast
05/20/2007 Red Hawk Ent
05/08/2007 Goldie Stallone
05/03/2007 Punch
04/21/2007 Riggs Morales/Shady
03/08/2007 RAD/BAD BOY
03/08/2007 xquiz
02/24/2007 RAD/BAD BOY
02/20/2007 abom
02/20/2007 AZ

I hope this helps people to let them know that PMP DOES work. The painful truth about it, is that if you're not getting any hits or subscriptions, then the people aren't interested in the music you've been submitting. But that's not to say that they won't ever be. Keep working, keep getting hotter, and keep participating (NOT FLOODING) the track dumps, and keep putting newer, hotter material on your page.

That's about it...hope this helps people's curiosity.

Thanks for the info. I do know that I'm not going to be getting any feedback like I'd receive from the Hip-Hop Reviews Section here (for example). I was thinking more feedback in terms of actually being able to see whether anyone is actually checking out my page, or if it's just getting lost among all the other pages. I do kind of wish it was possible to see whether you're actually getting people to look at your page - most sites that I know of let at least the person who has the page check out those kinds of statistics.

I think that's what most buyers are going to do. I would be interested to see how much of the buyer traffic on that site is referred from their myspace page.

Why do you want to listen to other people's beats? If there was no PMP, you wouldn't be going to their studio, listening to their beats. Are you jacking ideas, or sizing up the competition?

If you're worried about measuring up to the competition, then go back to soundclick. You're supposed to be at a level where you can compete with anything out there, before you go signing up for PMP.

Actually, I sent an email to the admins and requested such a feature. They thanked me for my suggestions.

But also understand that this site is brand new, there's nothing out there like it, and that many, many changes are coming to the site as they get more people, more feedback, etc.

Oh...and Rad is like Tom. Since he's partner in the site, he's everybody's friend. Along with AZ and Abom.

Troup is right.

What if the NBA would let you try out for $50?

Would you honestly pay $50 thinking that you are going to do something... or fool Phil Jackson into putting you into a real game.

lol.

If you were like Lebron in HS then you should pay, if not... keep practicing... then pay. Don't worry about another mans beats, make him worry about yours.

... I'm still trying to get better... I wasted a lot of time but I'm in the game.

I hope somebody throws me the ball.. I won't throw it over the back board... I can at least hit the rim... It might bounce in too.

I'll be able to dunk in a few months, watch. I mean 360 between the legs type stuff.

Slow down, don't be quick to hate. I am a fan of music and I like hearing other producers work, and I examine the mixes of more profound producers on the website to get an idea of how they sound. I won't trip off that feature I was just putting the fact out there. Also, I checked out your page and I enjoyed your work.

J. Troup - thanks for the info! Just checked my PMP page, and got a subscription, so I guess they really ARE checking out pages. I guess with the amount of people who seem to be joining up recently, it could take a while for people to go through all that music.

lol basically.....

havent even set up or thought about signing on as a buyer....

feel like im a do me....:monkey:

I don't think anythings wrong with "checking out the competition" until up & coming producers start saying "I can't believe this guys in the game & I'm not...his beats suck, mine are killin his" without realizing that 'producer' you're comparing yourself has done something to get to where he's at. I can't hate on any producers in the game...and further progressed than myself. even the laffy taffy beat.

****, i'd join up and let the chips fall as the may. the only thing stoppin' me is that i've never effed with credit cards and i don't have a sponsored debit card, just a regular atm card so my only option is to take the 6 month plan via paypal. right now i can't afford to spend that + the currency exchange rate 'cause i'm supposed to go to engineering school this july and need every penny i can spare (goodbye cable, hello lowest tier net service).

but i'm well and tempted and might revert back to my old self ;)
