This guy was shaping up to be the next Quincy Jones in the late 90's, he was like a Timbaland with some real musicianship. Even 5 years ago he was on some evolutionary sounds, but somewhere between being given the last MJ project, marrying Joy Enriquez & losing all that weight his production fell the f*#k off. The stuff he's done over the last two years has been so dumbed down & simple it's like he's been musically lobotomized - and his results and status have reflected it....
It's no issue if he's over it, but why bother producing such half assed music - just retire, most of his material gets shelved before release by record companies anyway.
Have a listen to Natasha's/Clipse - So Sick or any of the Atiba stuff and I'm sure you'd agree half of FP could produce better material.
What happened to Darkchild??

shock thread!

You obviously have not been up on your music

you know what i never could figure out? why he kept makin bangers for toni braxton, and she fell off hard, the songs he produced for her were always dope IMO.

thats because he has learned that u dont have to have the most diffcult musicianship songs to make a hit single... His rnb stuff now is amazing! U obivously dont know what his recent stuff is!!

Beyonce Deja' Vu? (Number 1 for how long)
Bobby V. Turn The Page (amazing)
Mary J. Enough Cryin (Beat is nasty)
Ray J One Wish (Beautiful)
Joy- Been So Good? (co produced wit fred)

not to mention is gospel/christian music he has gotten into like Kiki Sheard and Virtue and Joy

everyone that comes out with 2 hit songs back to back goes through this.
every time a not-so-known producer has like 2 hits , people give them a "most underrated producer" or "one of the best producers out" thread. this happened with Rodney Jerkins , Michael Cox , the Harrison guy (all the amerie stuff) , and countless less memorable ones . They just had a couple of hits and are expected to be like that all year every year . i think Black Milk is gonna be the next "best producer out" to "what happened to him" beatmaker .

Buddy I have 95% of his discography dating back to 94/95 including most of his unreleased stuff. I'm assuming you're a teenager because that Beyonce/Shariffa/Ray J material doesn't cut it after you heard the gems that went unheard in the Darkchild 99 era.
The one good track I've heard in recent times from him was J Holiday - Be with me.

Yeah, dude's doin his thing. I have no idea why this post was made.

that deja vu joint is wack
mary joint is cool
and the ray j **** was fire

Shed some light on this. We need examples. What are your favorite records he produced?

lol@ this thread and for the amounts of responses it will get....

Please guys, don't reply to this thread if you don't have a good understanding of his music - go to the darkchild forums and you'll see pretty much everyone is acknowledging it's curtains for him as he hasn't released anything on 'his' standards for many a year.
Beyonce - Deja Vu (painful)
Bobby V - Turn the page (listen to Jesse Powell's - You from 98)
Mary J - Enough Crying (genius drums??)
Ray j - One Wish (Brandy should've got this one)

And he only ever did 3 tracks for Toni Braxton - only one ppl heard...

Examples of his better material as some of you (surprisingly) don't seem to be aware of what I'm talking about:

Luther Vandross - Nights in Harlem rmx
Kenny Lattimore - Days like this rmx
Forbidden - Second to none
Tyrese - Sweet Lady rmx
Keith Washington - Bring it on rmx
Tank - No one but me
Monica - Angel of Mine
Whitney Houston - If I told you that
Brandy - You don't know me orig & rmx
Canela - Love Lust Crime
Jay Mathis - Remember me no more
Rhona - Time Will Tell
Talent - Breakin' Up
So Plush - Damn (production)
Tevin Campbell - Another Way rmx

Depressing...

I agree man. He hasn't really made any tracks recently that were memorable like his old sh!t. Deja Vu was okay. The Mary J and Shariffa tracks are forgettable. One wish was probably the best outta the newest ones mentioned but still really wasn't memorable like his old productions. More of a cookie cutter sound imo..because his old sh!t used to be super catchy lol.

His new style is...like i said before. Forgettable.

Garbage post.

If you cant listen to "Lose My Breath" and not be impressed, I hope you yourself are not a producer.

None of that old stuff he did w/ the exception of Brian McKnight "Stay Or Let It Go" still sounds fresh today.

Hahahaha....

Deja Vu was amazing. Listen to the instruments in that track I can't get enough. As for Mr. Jerkins falling off when I saw that video with my homie today we thought the same thing. That joint is trash, the Clipse made the song as for the chick can someone say CASSIE! Pretty faced gimmick. I think that 99-00 was the begining of Rodney being overshadowed by the Neptunes and Timbo. He is still very relavant.
