You'll learn more in an hour of using a Gemini PMX-250 mixer (crappiest thing I've ever seen) then you will saving up for a year for that A&H or Rane.

You'll also spend more money buying cheap mixers again and again after they break than you would investing in something like a Rane, Ecler, Allen and Heath, etc, in the long run. Believe me, I did for years before the club I was a resident in for about 3 years gave me their Xone 62 after they closed their doors.

I give your Behringer about 2 months of adequate usage before you'll start to run into issues with the upfaders or crossfader (depending on which you use more) if the DJX700 is indicative of the average quality of the Behringers. Oh, and about that hum you're experiencing, it's probably a ground loop. Plug your mixer into a different outlet (without anything attached to it) and see if the hum is still there. If it isn't, then rework your plugs so that the ground loop isn't there anymore.

I'll try and get rid of that hum. The mixer is plugged into a power bar with the decks. As well, thanks for jinxing my mixer :P

minty: i know you laid out what those decks are in another thread, but can you explain them to me? are they like those "audiophile" decks i hear so much about and could never afford? if they are, then why are they in battle mode?

No, they are early 80's consumer decks. They were both originally automatic but somehow I was able to rip out exactly what I needed to make them manual. I installed those power switches that you see. I got the left one for free from my moms friend and the right one I paid $30 for at a garage sale.

Audiophiles don't normally use decks, they have a series of parts laid across a carpeted floor. The motor will be in one corner and the platter and tonearm in another. This seperates the cart from the motor, eliminating hum.

Aww man, ....in' Behringer. The crossfader is starting to bleed already :(. Thank God I have one year warranty.

Check that out for more man. I had this great plan of starting a new one cause all of the links here are dead, but it fell through. More setups there though!

Yes...

I only paid $100 for it so don't rip on me for buying an SK! I'll admit, most of the SK's were crap, but a few were okay like the 6F.

I hate you. LOL :D JK. Some people have way to much money. Looks really nice though.

Nice equipment, Stroud. Have you used the headshell mounted Nightclubs yet? Any difference in feel or performance?
