I don't like TFTs.

I spend ALOT of hours per day in front of my monitors.. so large, high refresh rate, high resolution, real flat, low dot/horizontal pitch CRTs are better.

A majority of people who use computers for long periods at work (graphic/video editors) still prefer to use high-end CRTs over TFTs.

I don't just spin wax, Im about to graduate computer systems engineering so I depend on computers alot :)

Yes, I can't stand those 17" low-end CRT pieces of crap that you find everywhere either!

Sag? That desk is less than 2 months old.

LOL :D My bad...the front lip of the the two desk pieces have a curve to them and so when I glanced at the picture they gave the illusion of the boards sagging. I hope this oversight doesn't ruin the great friendship we worked so hard to build, nmcog. ;):D

The next thing i will do is either get a pair of monitors or turbosound 10" cabs or just move out and use my possiable roommate's monitors.

Actually it's a system we installed for one of our clients ;)

My setup is quite modest

1 x RANE TTM56
2 x SL-1200MK2's (with the metal shells resprayed in a metallic black automotive finish with a green and red speckle fleck through the paint. They also have SL1200LTD *GOLD* tone arms, stylus illuminator, pitch knob, start/stop and speed buttons fitted. SL1210MK2 pitch decal and I have replaced all the LED's with different colours to be "different". I have also fitted a super bright LED for the stylus illuminator instead of the useless lamps.)
1 x ECHO AUDIO MIA Soundcard (TRS balanced jack inputs)
1 x Red Rover USB interface for Cool Edit Pro/Adobe Audition
2 x Tannoy Reveal Monitors
1 x 1970's Luxman Amplifier

I'll post a pic when my girlfriend comes back from overseas with my digital camera

G-Prime,

Wow, you must be excited to be spinning. It's always an exciting time when you get new equipment. Not a bad setup for the first. Keep spinnin' man. :)

I'm getting my pair this weekend. Two tt-x's and hopefully a decent mixer not much longer after that. Unfortunately I have to assemble my setup piece by piece until it's complete. Not much cash.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a respectable mixer for someone doing pretty much everything but with more emphasis on hip hop? Any help is good. :) Thx.

Very excited freshpow! It is actually a very good setup. A mixer upgrade in the future and this will be a kickass rig. What I'm surprised is that I'm able to beat match Happy Hardcore pretty well after two hours of practice.

The TTX-1's were my first choice for turntables but, for $200 less, you can get the TT500's (the ones I have got). They're analog versions of the TTX-1's (no pre-amp, no digital out, no key correction, no blue LCD display).

As for a mixer, I'd recommend the mixer I've got (Behringer DX626) for anyone on a tight budget. Or, look into the Numark DM1002MKII, excellent bang for the buck and felt like a really solid mixer.

Yeah...the TTX's are in many ways the same as your turntable....but once I have my eyes on something I save and save and save until I can get it. Yeah...the behringer looks pretty cool.

I know there are many mixers out there that are much better than ones like the behringers and numarks....but people have to realize it's important to get out there and actually practice. You can worry about having the highest-end Rane mixer later down the line. Just get something respectable for now and get spinning, ya know? :D
