The wood piece in the middle is actually a computer interface with a 12" lcd, keyboard, and touchpad. I was going to use it for FinalScratch, but decided to take some time and wait. I currenly use it to check levels while recording, b/c my Rane MP-2 doesnt have a House output VU meter.

ok dude, you win total creativity points, nice looking rig. i have to ask, what do you think of that Rane mixer with EQ Killers? i have often thought that it would be a killer small profile setup.

nice work dude, i really like it.

By far the most original looking rig of the bunch! When I saw the pic I was like 'ok, this guy is so hi-tech he's built his own software mixer or something'. I agree with David, 12 points for the effort, man. I've never seen anything like that before, so keep up the good work, it's awesome.

Thanks alot guys. This coffin was my during-school side-project last semester, and I'm glad you guys like it. I was hoping to clean it up a little and make it more professional-looking in order to sell them, but the overhead is just too high. Who wants to pay $1600 for a computer interface when you could buy a whole computer for that much?

The Rane mixer is pretty nice in itself, but not the greatest for the kind of mixing I want to do (long mixes - house music). The knobs are just a little too small for me. Not much fine tune control. I'm not ragging on the mixer at all - I think its great; I'm just don't think I''m using it for its intended purpose. If only I could find some bigger knob caps....

It works great with the EQ killers. The equipment is so close together that I really dont notice any deviation from a normal mixer setup.

Schweet setup, Meridian. I like the way you have your monitors on stands (at least that's what it looks like).

Oh, I used to have the same Cerwin Vegas as you in my old apartment but I sold them to get myself a new guitar:(

the main speakers are in front.. CV LS-12s, one on that stand another one on top of a 6' rack on the other side of the room.

there is now two monitor speakers on top of that box that says composer (that's an audio compressor) - makes it easier if I have some sound closer to me...

dude, VERY smooth setup. i like it a lot. nice TV, speakers, etc.

simplicity is king, and i like that.

now, where's the mess :) jk

ok...one other thing, the speakers, are they velodyne? or infinity kappas? they are very smooth looking

endoraver: we have the same setup - schweet!

Jii: you'd tidied up your room right before you shot those pics, am I right? I've never had a room that clean in my life, there's always clothes and mags and shoes and records and cigarette packs lying everywhere.

Ok ok.. You've got me busted! :D Yes I tidied it up a bit. Generally I like to keep things organized, but i'm not a clean freak.. :p

Thanks dude! :) I like simplicity too..

I knew someone's gonna ask me about those speakers.
They are from a finnish manufacturer called "Chorus". Model is "Compact 662". Price is 169€ / a piece for the black model and a bit more for other colors. Actually my whole speaker array is quite scandinavian. :D

Here's a link to the manufacturers site. And a direct link to the speakers site. Site's in fin, so you probably won't understand too much. :(

Anyways. These speakers simply rock! They've been compared to speakers twice (sometimes even more) the price. They've won every test they have ever been in.
Compared to these:
B&W DM 303, Elac 101, Infinity Primus 200, Jamo E800, JBL LX 2002, JPW 202, Kef Cresta 2, Tannoy Mercury MX 2, Wharfedale Emerald 91.

The sub is from a swedish manufacturer: "Audio Pro". Model B1.35. Price around 420€. You could pretty much say the exact same things on this sub than on those Chorus'. Link.

Very nice setup, Mr Jii :D

Those speakers look as seem awesome... I know that the British are know for their exccellent Hi-hi speakers, but the Sscandinavian companies also have an excellent reputation...

Mr Jii, have you ever hear of Seas speakers? They only make speaker cones (not complete units), but they are awesome, especially to build custom speaker systems :D Alot of companies uses Seas cones in their hi-end systems, but the only way to tell is to open them up ;-(

Do Chorus make their own cones? Maybe they are Seas too?;)

Cheers
Greg

There's a huge number of speaker manufacturers in finland. It's nuts really. Ever heard of: Genelec , Gradient , Chorus , OR , Pen Audio , Amphion , and a couple of others I'm forgetting.. :D

I have heard of Seas yes. Chorus uses Seas cones in some of their models. I'm not sure if the 662 has seas cones, but it's veryvery possible. I have to look into that.
