Why can't we just admire artists for what they are and their accomplishments and leave the comparisons alone. It's always gotta be a this versus that. It's stupid.
It's all competition. Nothing to get mad about, everybody showing love to both.

tribute

truth ....totally agree

oh and as for your name Tru, I hope thats a tribute otherewise you may have to find a new one? lol
Love that ol wu shyt man but i feel mathematics more..
It was meant as a tribute to the PR song, but y would i have to find a new one? is it taken?

The point of this thread inverted was to see who yall would pick out of these 2 geniuses, and give pete some credit i felt he was missing BEFORE he dies

I know I'll catch hate, but whatever. I'm not hating or nothin, its just how I see it. I bet more than half of the people that are on Dilla's nuts either never heard of him or at least didn't think he was the greatest until after he died.

i hate that people always use that as an argument. yes i never really paid much attention to dilla until he died but so what. after his death i dug a little deeper and was opened up to a ton of a amazing music i never knew. now how does that make me any less of a fan than anyone else?

he is one of the greatest. why does it matter when i realized it? how does me only really paying attention to him after death make him any less great?

people have got to stop using that argument.

and i voted for dilla. petes great but dilla puts out some dope solo releases that i feel pete lacks. "NY's Finest" was a huge let down in my opinion.

My vote goes to J Dilla.

And im not going to lie about anything, I only heard about Dilla last year.

And i know for sure i probably would have quit making beats and wont be on this forum.

But the thing is i heard Dilla on an interview on youtube where he says he was influenced by Pete Rock himself.

He said something like "when i did that joint i want to be like pete"

I think i read it or heard it, if anyone knows where it is they should post it.

Ain't gonna vote between 2 of my favorite producers.....**** that

It's because of producers like Pete Rock, producers like Jay-Dilla is possible. My vote goes to the both of them. With all do respect to the pioneers of Real Hip-Hop Music.

Without James Brown there would be no Michael Jackson.

Same thing applies here. Without Pete Rock there would be no J Dilla. I don't feel they need to be compared to each other for that very reason.

Pete Rock.

Dilla is overrated, I don't care what any dick rider says.

The guy was extremely talented, but he isn't the god that people make him out to be.

HEY ! you cant say that someone that died isnt the GOAT in whatever thing he did ! dont you know the FP terms of service ? Dilla passed away, and pete is still alive so that automatically makes Dilla the greatest ever ! nuff said
