Hahahahahahahaha!!!

god people, im sure there was a time in your lives when u didnt know who pete rock was.damn, giv the guy/girl a break.
same as when everyone ever says they dont like dilla particularly, yall quick to jump on they backs.get over it.

if he's fan, that doesn't matter but anyone who wants to produce should know about hiphop's rich history.
I'm not saying this to be a nerd or a purist,it's about learning and respecting the culture...

as far as his drum techniques i know he runs em thru tube tech compressors... which are a ishload of money.. haha you can try to replicate that by using the ssl compressor plugin.. and i know he eqs all his sounds thru his 3 band dj mixer... you should try running your sounds thru a mixer and messing wit the eq on there it really makes the kick thump maddd hard...

I just need to figure out where and how he gets his bass sounding like that... sometimes he just uses the low pass filter but sometimes he just uses single bass notes... i wonder if he just uses the 16 level? anybody know?

Ah, nice try. Can't save your boy.

If I wanted to be a ballerina (I don't!), within a week I would know the names of the ten greatest ballerinas. Period.

you can't save your boy on this one

this is kind of sad really, not knowing who Pete Rock is when you want to be hip hop producer

You can jsut take a bass note and copy it however many times and then just assign to the pads and tune it.

i was kind of joking in my first post.

but seriously if you call yourself a hip-hop producer you should at least school yourself a little on the history behind it all.

pete rock IS the GOAT..... end of story... dude flips samples so crazy... finds the craziest samples... and pulls samples from like 4 different records for one track and makes em sound soooo dope together..... PR is a motha uckin genius!!

Pete Rock one of my favorite producers off all-time. He gave the blueprint on how to sequence tracks for me.

If you don't know who Pete Rock is, then you are not a hip-hop producer.

PR is simply...dope. Style = one of a kind,

and cannot be cloned not matter how hard cats try less they're remaking his exact beat. Many even fall short doing just that.

He's the s**t ... enough said!!
SP-1200 making huge different on sample sound because of its compressor component in its audio input. It's loud without losing its warm sound.
After production, post production will make the sound better with good quality Pre-amp, EQ, Compressor, Limiter, Harmonizer, Filter and whatever gears and softwares to make it sound like Pete Rock
On the top of all, he has THE EARS!!!! That's the most important thing.

Jamey Staub, Pete Rock's long time engineer!!! Read the credits on your records, 9 times out of 10 a producer with a distinct sound, will have a mix engieneer who is apart of everything he does.

Pete & Jamey
Primo & Eddie Sancho
Timbaland & Jimmy Douglas
Tribe called Quest & Bob Power or Tim Lathern (sp)
