I decided NOT to go with the Firewire 1814 or any M-Audio interface when I bought my first ProTools rig this past week.
After a lot of reserach and a lot of reading user reviews, all of the M-audio interfaces are reported to have serious software driver problems, defective knobs, LEDs causing hums in the input signals... the list goes on and on.
So I decided on ProTools LE with the Mbox2. And later this summer, I'm hoping to upgrade to the brand new Digi 003.
Make sure you do thorough research on any interface that you need to count on for recording your tracks. It'll save you a lot of time, money, and frustration later.
$345 is a good price for the Firewire 1814 though, especially if its new with the factory warranty.
Just my 2 cents.
