List Your VSTs

trusty...danoc9and anybody else with a long list)...if u had to narrow down to 2 or 3....which ones would it be?....

narrow it down to a bread and butter module....an all around synth....and a favorite or specialty synth/sampler that u like and why...

Man, a few months ago, I was begging people from here to become writers for the magazine, and I got two people (won't say who, you know who you are Deranged, Obi...) that never did anything.

Send me a PM, and next time we need more writers (probably will next year), I'll ask you first.

Alchemy - Though Dimension Pro is my main rompler, all my sounds (sfz format) could be ported over to this, so it could be my bread and butter "rompler" as well. Alchemy is the best sample mangler ever, plus it has so many synthesis options to choose from, so it would definitely be one of my main instruments for a lot of reasons.

Reaktor 5 - Though it isn't tops in the synthesis department like it used to be, and I mainly use it for mangling and crazy effects nowadays, Reaktor 6 is looking promising, and it is still versatile enough to cover all synthesis and sampling methods and has enough quality factory and user made ensembles to keep me happy forever, including my drum sampler and drum synthesis needs.

Zebra 2 - Outstanding synthesizer that sounds incredible, and can cover a multitude of synthesis needs, a lot like Reaktor, but sounds even better and believe it or not, it is fairly easy to program once you get the hang of it.

Ok, Las I wil have to go with these three.

1. Record, because of the Mixing board, the wonderful time stretching, and you can record up in to it. So basically I would have an all around studio virtually and one needs a studio to do beats. NNXT, Dr Rex, Redrum, Thor would put me at the helm of getting it a job done.

2. Recycle because I can chop up samples or things I play and run it back to the studio which would be Record.

3. Sonic Synth. This was a hard decission over Omnisphere. Being SS has over 5,000 sounds and you can sound design and make new sounds. If I cant get busy with this synth I need to leave the game.

id rather have omnisphere over ss anyday.

interesting...i got sampletank before i realized they had it bundled with sonic synth...i keep hearing people talk about it...i might have to grab it...
 
I don't use them in any set order, but here's a bit of what I use:

Superwave P8
GTG K1
3xOSC (only for sawtooths)
Padawan
 
If I had to choose from 3 I would take Guru (You need a drum sampler) Sampletank and Vanguard.

since i use live...i have drum racks...so i dont need one...what would be your third if u didnt need a drum sampler?
 
Next would be Reason but that can't count because it contains many instruments :P

I'd probably go with Truepianos after that. Pretty much all style of sounds are covered with all of that. If I still can't find what I want I would fire up my Motif :)
