Just about ready to get down to business..

Isk2009, on the other bullets in your thread (in no particular order).

Don't sleep on that copyrighting business. Get that done ASAP.

Online - Soundclick and My Bandcamp are an excellent place to get your feet wet, but don't underestimate the power of your own .com (I say knowing full well mine isn't launched yet), and even the free social network sites will help in the early going getting your name out there. (everyone has a myspace or FB...not everyone is on MBC, SC and/or RN)

Definately get an e-mail address specifically for the business and only give it out to business-related contacts.

As soon as it's financially viable, consider consulting an entertainment lawyer. Do not rely on stock contracts (barring an emergency one-off gig that by-and-large will probably run smoothly, a stock contract is better than no contract.)

A car is definately a plus...but really, in the internet age...theres a lot you can do without ever putting rubber to pavement or contrails to sky.

And, last but not least, the name; work with it. There's been a plethora of information and ideas already shared so I won't regurgetate it, but just rest assured that when you find the right name, it's just going to click and all the stressing and whatnot about creativity and originality will be gone and you will be [insert mind-blowingly awesome name that came to you at 2AM on a Tuesday]

Good luck out there and keep in touch with the community!

Now that's what I'm talkin bout! Even though it's really just reconfirmation of what I was thinking (I say that in an absolutely non-arrogant way, lol). Just trying to make sure I'm on the right track here, thanks man.

I'm going to take the lack of non-name-related replies as people saying. "It's not that complex, just do work, lol.

I'll keep working on a prod. name in the meantime, thanks to those who gave suggestions

Take a name that is not too current, it will help your referencing in google for example...

Realised the hiphop aliases are just corny... If I had to go back, I would use my middle name and something else close to my last name...

:)

yo ISK... copy writing your tunes is some shit you can easily do in a couple of hours. The bureaucratic fine print stuff on the ECO website can be a little overwhelming at first but it really is an easy process and IMO.. should be done every time you get a good number of songs done that you're happy with.

The copy writing and the e-mail is something you can get done TODAY.

Getting your stuff ready for soundclick you can do over the weekend easily; gather up your best and get them all sounding on the same quality level even if you gotta go back and do fresh mixdowns . what kind of monitors are you working with? if you say 'none' than put the car on hold for a minute and get some monitors asap.

Good luck with everything ; as corny as it sounds go hard , focus and stay hungry!

make sure you allocate money towards promotion.....Getting heard in there is impossible unless you seem Bigger then the website like the big names on soundclick....So flood the website with promo to seem like your everywhere and being used by everybody

Names to not pick:
Names that are just abbreviations. (e.g ISK)
Anything with the word 'Beats', 'Productions', 'Entertainment' in it.
Something super common.

The best way to go is have something entirely unique making it clear in 1 to 3 words who you are. Your own real name is also a good choice.

Just Blaze
Bryan-Michael Cox
Danja
Hi-Tek
Scott Storch
Timbaland

Those are those unique standout names.

Vybe Beatz
Royal Beatz
Anno Domini Beats
Jrum Beats

All those names suck for example!

If you find a name I could hook you up with some graphics

Damn yall are an enthusiastic bunch, lol.

But I might hit you up Ill. I gotta think of a good Logo idea too

All I know is that my name Idea isn't gonna be one of those cliched entirely uncreative names.
