I'm not gonna air anybody out but I've been in the presence of a label whose name will not be spoken (lol) while they were discussing buying 250k first week to make their artist (whose song was Billboard Hot100 #18 at the time) appear bigger and make people think the album is worth buying. It worked, she ended up pushing over 1,000,000 copies with that album over the course of about 6-7 months (oops!).......
 
K, so when you say they were discussing buying 250k, is that just Soundscan bribes or actual CDs? I'm still a little confused, maybe you could clarify.

I'm a little skeptical about this practice happening for someone like Jadakiss who is more regional than, say for example, a popstar like Rihanna who is international.

This is interesting.

Actual CD's.......

People think the labels lose a lot of money for buying CD's back when it's really not and sometimes even comes as part of the artists unused budget.......
 
K, but they don't actually send an army to the stores to buy 250k tho, do they? Wouldn't it make more sense to just bribe some Soundscan reporting locations to scan the cds without actually selling them to anyone, then keep the CDs in the stores to sell again to fans? I would think that's an easier way to inflate numbers if your dealing with actual CDs, isn't it?

Cuz that would be highly illegal but buying them legally wouldn't be.......

im with u on the jim jones album .. it is terrible in my opinion ......wasnt even chking for bow wow...but jada ....hotness in my opinion

Its better than all the other **** we been complaining about. same goes with the new em single. its not the cure to cancer, but its better than these fuks these lables been tryna package and throw at us...

mims only did 13,000.why didnt the label buy albums for him?

i used to check soundscan # on Maestro's blog but he kinda stopped posting them...

y'all got another page where i can take a look?
 
It made no sense for Mims to drop an album to begin with. With the big boxes continuing to shrink floor space for CD albums its going to get even worse. How many years of double digit loses is it going to take for people to wake up? Fascinating

i dont know why everyone's talkin about jada's sales like he's a ****ty rapper. he's been around since '94 and has had tracks with all the heavyweights in the industry from then til now.

everyone's worried about the album sales but has anyone actually listened to it yet. i copped it last week and alot off the songs might have a commercial beat but he goes hard on every track.

im from yonkers and a huge fan but jada is consistent and he doesnt give a **** about record sales. he just wants to make music. he IS one of the greatest rappers of all time because he may not have the most number one singles or the most sales but everyone knows him. personally, however, i think kiss the game goodbye, is the best out of all his albums.

the real hip hop is comin back this year. Jada is the first album, then eminem is droppin 2 albums plus dre, 50 cent, jay-z, and even outkast.
 
yeah i like the album i copped it last night ish goes hard...KISS is back but everyone keep hating it helps his promotion ..... i was excited to see this tread had 8 pages that means my boy i getting some attention. thats what it is fellas HIP HOP might have a chance...
 
Anyone that's a fan and not a complete fan boy can't honestly say this is up to par with his other work.
 
well i think its a different approach i think he is trying to appeal to a broader crowd with this album he goes hard tho definately .... he tryin to get dat paper this time around

You couldn't be more wrong. Jada's always complained about how he is one of the best rappers but hates that he can't sell like Jay, Em, etc.......

He WANTS to sell. That's why he followed formula's on the album that he did the Mariah Carey single on because he wanted to sell and he finally got a Platinum Plaque from it and he was still disappointed.......
 
yeah if you listen to the formula on this album you can tell he wants to sell albums
