A colleague was offered an advertising contract with the clothing company. I cant give any other details. The person will not work for them if the rumors are true.

I always learn alot from u guys, coz i dont read source and xxl all the time. please tell me anything u have heard asap, thanx in advance.

And please, this is a straight forward thread, please dont let it turn into "dont work for corporations, music is not for $, blah, blah". If thats ur attitude, stay out of my thread please.

If you're referring to that OPRAH appearance that sh!t is an urban legend. Anyone who claims to have seen it is LYING! Oprah never asked him about his target market, and she never kicked him off the show for saying that he didn't want blacks to wear his clothes.

Then again I have Tommy's # in my rolodex. Get back to me in 5 minutes.

I keep hearing these rumours....someone even told me that the owner of Timbaland was a racist and has made some pretty outrageous comments, however, until I hear or see concrete evidence i'm not going to pass judgement, for example, look at the whole Lauryn Hill drama....it had no substance yet people were throwing mad accusations (and still do) at her. There's so many rumours in today's society that it's unreal, and the problem is that we just can't say wether something has truth or not:(

really?

the closest i've ever been to him was on the newjersey turnpike at a tollbooth and he was in the next lane over in a red ferrari enzo.

who the hell still wears Tommy

I have Tommy Hill boxers, and a gym bag.

By the way I couldn't reach Tommy, but his publicist or whoever claims that he eats way too much chicken to be racist towards black people.

And yes I really did call.

who the hell still wears Tommy Hilfiger anyway?

maybe thats y they have big $ for advertising:D

anyway, even if someone can elaborate on the rumors, thats cool too. i can sort out for myself whether i wanna believe it. thanx for the replies.

i dont know tommy hilfiger as a person but i suppose my guess is as good as anyones on here and i'd say he wasnt.he's too much of a goddam stinky hippie,he tried to sell me some karma beads once and i administered the most severe hippy bashing in human history.

I don't know about Tommy but I think I remember that he didn't acknowledge his sales in the urban youth market at first. I think he changed his mind awhile back and decided that the hip hop market was a significant part of his sales.

As for the Timberland guy. I saw him on TV in an interview and they kept asking him about his popularity with young black youth. He said he wasn't aware that they were buying his shoes and he didn't make them for the street. He said he made them for hunters and fisherman. They kept grilling him and he wouldn't embrace the fact that the majority of his sales were coming from the streets. He didn't say anything flat out racist but the way he acted, he might as well have. I saw that one with my own eyes. I haven't bought a pair since. Hunters and Fisherman buy new boots every ten years. He was squirming too. "I make a quality shoe for hunters, fisherman and outdoorsman. Not for everyday wear."

Nah Tommy Hilfiger is mad cool. He used to give rappers free clothes to promote his line. I saw a video shoot where him and Grand Puba of the Brand Nubian were messing around having fun. I cant say that his Executives that work for him aint racist. Timmberland is racist on the other hand but we still rock their clothes. I'm guilty of this. They make quality boots that's why I rock em. I havent found a viable substitute. I bought some FUBU Boots a few years ago and they fell apart.

I'm a step out the box for a minute and try and look at it from their perspective. It's obvious Timberland doesnt like Blacks so take a group of people you aint crazy about and see how you'd react if they rocked your stuff and made you rich. I dislike racist skinheads. Let's say skinheads rocked my gear and made me rich, I'd still hate those fukers. That's how Timberland feels with Blacks. They see hip hoppers rocking their gear acting urban and they hate it with a passion. That's not what they represent. Just look at the Box-That's the image they want. Think about it who fishes and hunts-racists.

i'd see it more as he made products for hunters and fishermen to be worn in the outdoors and be used for years,if he sees people like damon dash who only wear his shoes once then i think he'd get pissed off.,they were meant as functional items and meant for a purpose and i suppose he wants them to be used for that purpose.,but then i dont know the guy and havent read anything about him so just my perspecitve

The guy interviewing the Timberland guy was like..."C'mon... don't act like this is something you learned today!"

I guess if they last a long time then forget him. I bet there are some racist in the NIKE production plant somewhere. You can't get rid of all of 'em.

Tell that dude to go ahead and do the damn thing with Tommy Hilfiger. It might lead to something else.

Yeah, Hilfiger has been around since the Grand Puba days. I almost forgot about that. At least he acknowledges us.

CASTLE HILL, do u know what video shoot that was? we just heard about a talk show appearance where he dissapproved of the "urban market" wearing his clothes. it sounds like the timberland situation... maybe it got twisted around, u know how rumors are.(lol @ hunters and fisherman=racists, except the only hunter/fisherman i know is black:D)

biggrome, i pretty much agree, every big corporation prolly has a few lemons up top, what are u gonna do?(throws up hands and shrugs)

i guess if anything we should all stop drinking pepsi and consuming its other products, but i wonder how far thats really gonna go...
