Is Tommy Hilfiger really a racist? (trust me, it has to do with music)

ok, i guess maybe this clears it up:
http://www.tommy.com/help/rumor/rumorADL.jhtml;jsessionid=SD5GDWVWKDYKOCQKZ2QB3KQ
if u cant trust the anti-defamation league, i dont know...

i like the last sentence about not believing everything u read on the internet.

I am deeply upset that a malicious and completely false rumor continues to circulate about me. I create my clothing for all different types of people regardless of their race, religious or cultural background.

he should just air those clips of him and grand puba on bet in a commercial and be like "look at me, i been on the team since day one"...

CASTLE HILL, do u know what video shoot that was? we just heard about a talk show appearance where he dissapproved of the "urban market" wearing his clothes. it sounds like the timberland situation... maybe it got twisted around, u know how rumors are.(lol @ hunters and fisherman=racists, except the only hunter/fisherman i know is black:D)

I dont remeber the actual video-just the footage but that was over 10 years ago-Brand Nubian is old school. Maybe he has changed his stand with the new generation. Tommy Hilfiger is played out anyway. If he did say it Fuk em. There are a few states Black Hunters may go but the real hunting states. Oregon, Maine etc are filled with those Racist hunters. I have been to Maine during Bear Season and I did not see too many that looked like me. Just look at the Hunter shows on cable. I dont see em shooting ducks with their Black homies. Matter of fact I dont see any brothas at all.

Tommy Hillfiger went thru the same stuff Abercrombie & Fitch is going thru right now. Both only featured/ hired white folks. That Tommy story is old tho- they changed their stuff after the controversy, started putting Tyson Beckford in a lot of their ads and what not. Now the only folks wearing Tommy are mfkas in the hood.

were they wearing timberlands?

In houston, polo, nautica, and tommy is what folks is wearing when they wanna get fly.

j/k. i believe it, tho. i could picture being in that situation. white racists think its ok to say all that "they do this, they're like that" stuff in front of me, because of my color.

then, im like, "what do i do"... theres like 5 of them, all with riffles, and were in the cuts out here, miles from anywhere...

but they dint kno i was a navy seal, a black belt, and a genovese:bat:

You're missing the point. My point was that this is their target market. Whether the hunters choose to respond to their advertising is an entirely different subject.

I think he was joking, dog.

And yeah, Tommy's been played out for a few years, at least here in Philly.

Ok thanks. I used to be real trendy so the crowd I know that stuff is played out. The gear differs from person to person at this stage in our life. I've definitely outgrew the stage where I'm so name brand conscious. I stopped being a walking billboard years ago. I dont like clothes with the name in Big letters across the chest. I'll rock quality clothes but without all the logos. Timberlands are the only name brand I continually wear but that's due to the lack of competition.

I fish, and I'm not a racist. :(

And I don't wear Timberlands or Tommy when I fish. I wear an old pair of K-Swiss, and an old pair of Levi's

yeah, i was jokin about that...

yeah, tommy was real big in la and the bay area in like 96.

lol @ redneck hunters rockin timbs and tommy gear...

damn I am all behind in these style trends lol. I got a few hilfiger shirts as gifts and I wear them cause they're comfortable. **** being trendy I can make anything look good...

:)

Or maybe everyone is secretly laughing at me behind my back....

:(

never owned any timberlands..

i saw some of thier clothes in a store once.. the clothes seems to be low quality rip off's of carhartt..

no expirence with the shoes..
all the hunters i know buy quailty gear, personally i would go with an oiled black or brown leather rather than then that tan crap.. gets dirty to easy, or looks that way at least..

that's how you can tell the ish thats made for a purpose and the stuff thats meant to look like its for something..

but what do i know...
i spent the day in a vintage hawaiin shirt and bell bottoms..

@Castle Hill- Damn, dog youz a smart ass huh? Ol' boy right here talking like he Malcolm in the Middle and what not.

I guess it's just country where I'm from but when Hilfiger first came out people were calling it

Hilfinger...

Hilfigure...

I never corrected anybody.

I don't think tommy hilfiger is racist, that belief is really just a myth. However, timberland did say what they said, about not targeting blacks, but they are not racist.

Timberland came out with hiking boots. Now who wears hiking boots? Well, most likely hikers right. Well lets see, who goes hiking alot? Mostly anglo americans. Therefore, lets try to gear our marketing toward anglo's that go hiking. It's not racism, it is just business smarts. When hip hop was first birthed, the makers "US" geared it toward Americans of African decent, but something about it also appealed to the audience that they didn't market it to, just like we started rockin' tim's even though they didn't market it to us. In short, timberland pretty much said, "We aimed our marketing toward hikers (who most likely are white), and through some unpredicted turn of events the urban market liked it too. So we consider that as a plus."

They didn't say they were racist, they just weren't intentionally trying to sell the shoes to the urban market, but it happened anyway.

What brands of clothing to ppl wear now? I'm so far removed from high school and clothing fads. My style hasnt really change since I was 16 (now 24) I wear nothing but button ups.

Do ppl still wear tommy and nautica???

I know white kids around here wear alot of a&f, american eagle and ralph lauren. Except for the raver, punk, wigg and rocker whites.

and to the dismay of many in the hizzood..i f.ck with k-swiss
